23.01.2022 Throw back to when we were cool. Back in our days as amateur stunt people! Of course, that's a lie...we were never cool. We've managed to bury this video until now but thought we could all do with a little fun at the moment! This video was created by one of our students (Chris Smith) back in 2018 for the Rosie Revue. The Revue is a fun filled night held by our students each year at the UofA Roseworthy Campus... Enjoy #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide

23.01.2022 Koala skeleton done! That's been on the 'to do' list for the last few years... It got moved to the top of the list because we couldn't bring the elephant skeleton home #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide #koalaskeleton

22.01.2022 Today on "Vet Anatomy UofA: working from home edition" we've been mass producing silicone suture pads in the back yard. Great in theory, but the execution needs a little work Apologies to any student that finds a fly in their suture pad Apologies to said flies too... #vetanatomy #anatomy #vetschool #vetscience #vettech #vetnurse #vettechlife #clinicalskills #clinicalskillslab #vetstudent #medicalsimulation #medicalsimulationtraining #universityofadelaide

21.01.2022 If you're unsure in any way, just think to yourself "What would Batman do?" According to this poster, Batman maintains social distance!!! Be like Batman (note: we're endorsing social distancing, not vigilantism) Thanks to @adelaidecomicscentre for the awesome poster ... ---1.5 metres---- #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide

20.01.2022 As we prepare for our triumphant return to campus, here's a short time lapse video of a dog foot being loosely articulated for our teaching collection Sorry for the weird angle. There were limited options for camera placement #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide #dogskeleton #teaching #anatomyteaching

19.01.2022 This time last week Rachel and Anthony presented to the Institute of Anatomical Sciences (UK). The presentation was focused on the beloved Samorn (a South Australian icon and our last Elephant) whose skeleton we're currently restoring and building. This is the second time Anthony has worked on her (there's a 2008 model of Anthony on one of the slides) and the third time Rachel has built her. This will be her last build and the Vet School her final resting place #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide #elephantskeleton

18.01.2022 Here's a couple of pictures of us from last week trying to build a koala skeleton whilst maintaining social distancing ............. Yes, we're working in the front yard because the house is too small #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide #stayhome #workfromhome

18.01.2022 Okay, probably not the most exciting picture... but we're excited about it! We've finally got support stands for our elephant skeleton #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide #elephantskeleton

18.01.2022 It's taken a long time to collect and prepare enough skulls to fill this display, but we finally have a comparative collection of dog breed skulls! #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide

16.01.2022 Soooooo... can anyone else see the problem here? Hopefully the disappointment on Rachel's face is some indication... If not, perhaps it'll be more obvious in the last photo #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide #elephantskeleton

14.01.2022 Since no one shared their work from home (WFH) workstations with us, let's try again... Here's a few more pictures of Rachel and Anthony doing #workfromhome. We're both fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work from home, but we understand not everyone does. So for the sake of all the frontline workers and others who have no choice but to go into work, please #stayhome when possible #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide #education #onlinelearning

10.01.2022 In these unprecedented times I'm sure we've all had to make some changes to our routines. Rachel and Anthony have both opted to #workfromhome for the foreseeable future but *silver linings* it's an opportunity to improve on some of our teaching material. If you've chosen to do the same (or have no choice but to do the same) comment with your WFH set up. We're all in this together so lets see what you've got! #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide #education #onlinelearning

10.01.2022 What a week! It's time for a responsible social distance drink! Just casually yelling things at each other from across the room... #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide

06.01.2022 When the vet school opened we hastily filled our display cabinets with skulls for a public open day and they've stayed that way ever since! It's long been our goal to reimagine the display with a more veterinary focus...being a vet school, it seems the least we could do. Actually, the least we could do is nothing, but our generosity knows no bounds This display (the righting reflex in the cat) should be a good start. We'd like at least one more skeleton in this sequence...two If we can fit them #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide #catskeleton #catrightingreflex

04.01.2022 For the last couple of months we've had three students working on various projects in the Vet Anatomy Labs. We'd love to show all 3 here but unfortunately we can only show skeletal work. So here is Steph with her Bilby skeletal articulation. Great work Steph! It looks amazing! Even though we can't show their work, we'd like to also thank Carrie and Lani for their fantastic dissections, hippopotamus forelimb and sheep fore/hind limbs, respectively. Overall, a very productive January/February

04.01.2022 It's important to keep in touch with each other during these times, and what better way than with a FaceTime meeting! Even if it was mostly Rachel having intense conversations with Anthony's ceiling...and Anthony's ceiling having intense conversations with the side of Rachel's head. It's a good thing we're so #techsavvy #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide #education #onlinelearning

02.01.2022 Sooooo, this happened... Sadly, the final photo is the "after" shot. We had to completely disarticulate the axial skeleton of our elephant in order to move it to its new frame. We probably should've checked the clearance between the top of the frame and the ceiling before we attempted to that *Spoiler alert* there wasn't enough room... #vetanatomy #anatomy #skeleton #skeletalprep #vultureculture #vetschool #vetscience #zoology #comparativeanatomy #museum #museumpreparator #universityofadelaide #elephantskeleton

02.01.2022 The last few weeks we've been in intensive model production mode! More specifically, skin pads and uteri simulants for students to practice spaying. Designed in consultation with Small Animal Surgeon, Dr Olaf Schaaf, the skin and uteri will allow students to practice clinical skills before using them in a real clinical setting! That's 12 done. Just another...24 of each to go Luckily we called in additional support to get through it all. So, thank you to Tash Collins fo...r producing the skin pads! More photos in the comments!
