17.01.2022 DARLING DUKE Duke is an adorable little Labradoodle who slipped while chasing a ball and sustained a right hip luxation! (Dislocated hip). Hip luxation's are diagnosed with radiographs and can often be corrected while under a simple general anesthetic. However, if there is significant damage to the joint capsule, surgery is required to secure the hip to stop it from continuing to displace. Duke was seen by Dr Emma who performed a hip toggle procedure, which is expected to b...e curative. Radiographs after surgery show Duke’s hip completely back where it should be, so now he’s now a happy pupper! We don’t think he’ll be chasing balls any time soon :)

11.01.2022 STORM PHOBIA Unfortunately some of our pets suffer from storm phobia, which can put the whole household on edge. What can you do to make this process easier on everyone?... Download an app such as this one to stay ahead of when a storm is predicted to hit your area: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details Talk to us about the use of situational anxiety medication, to help ease your pets through the stormy season Provide a safe environment for them to retreat into, to 'ride out the storm'. This can include background noise to supplement the noise of the storm, such as a radio or TV, and lots of treats and reassurance. Ensure they are secure, a frightened and anxious pet will try and escape at all costs! Don't punish them for acting the way they are, they can't help it! Punishment will only exacerbate the anxiety and fear. Start working on Storm desensitization We are always here to help with a management plan for your pet and their phobias, so if its something you've been thinking about pick up the phone as give us a call.

02.01.2022 SUNDAY/ISO DAY 4: (COS ITS ALL BACK TO NORMAL NOW!) 'Leave it!' This skill is so important for spills of food, toys, medication and other nasties that our pets should not be ingesting. We see accidental ingestion of these types of items often, and anything we can do to lessen the incidence of this is so valuable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWdU5Hgdtmc
