24.01.2022 South Metropolitan TAFE is committed to providing a safe environment for our clients, students and staff. As part of our response to COVID-19 and our responsibility to our community, we are making changes to the operation of our live-works sites. Accordingly, we are continuing to provide training in our Vet Clinic, however will not be taking bookings from the general public for consults or surgeries. If you require veterinary assistance, please attend a regular vet clinic. Pl...ease keep in mind that many veterinary clinics are implementing their own measures for client and staff safety, and there may be a delay in being able to book routine, non-essential appointments. Please contact us on 9267 7125 or via Facebook Messenger if you need your pets history forwarded on to another clinic. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we look forward to welcoming you back when we recommence services to the public from our Vet Clinic.
21.01.2022 Last night we celebrated our Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing graduating class of 2019 at the wonderful Swan Yacht Club. A delicious buffet dinner, great company, and a bit of spontaneous dance floor action capped off a successful yet challenging year for our students and staff. We would like to recognise the following students who received awards last night. VNCA Award: Mikayla McWhirter... Lecturers Award: Jodie Burcham, Freya Riches & Emma Capelli Academic Excellence Award: Rebecca Cullen, Emma Boone & Tegan Allum Merit Awards: Hayley Barrell-Smith, Bianca Turvey, Samantha Williams, Luann Nilsson, Ally McCormack, Abbey Hillman, Hannah Craig, Charlie Wulff, Madderson Simonetti, Maddison Williams, Amy Judd, Alanah Nind & Zoe Rumble. Congratulations to our winners, and to all the students who successfully completed their Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2019. We look forward to seeing all our new peers out in the next stage of their careers soon!
19.01.2022 If you shop at Woolies but arent planning on collecting the seeds as part of their Discovery Garden promotion, please consider donating the ones you earn to our Animal Studies department. They will be grown and used as enrichment for our in-house animals, particularly our rabbits. They can be dropped off to the Animal Studies reception in G Block any weekday between 8am-4pm.

18.01.2022 We are pleased to say we will be re-opening for limited clinic consult and surgery spots for the remainder of Term 2. Our clinic and surgery will ONLY be taking bookings for Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and availability will be limited on those days. We still recommend taking your pet to a full-service vet clinic if you need them seen within a short time frame, as we are anticipating appointments will book up at least a week in advance and there will be no opportunity to... squeeze in bookings. Monday PM: 1:00pm-4:00pm with Dr Gautrey Tuesday AM: 9:00am-12:00pm with Dr Marchini Wednesday AM: 9:00am-12:00pm with Dr Marchini Please call the clinic on 9267 7125 during opening hours to make a booking.
17.01.2022 We have had a recent increase in the number of clients turning up out of hours without an appointment, and some with pets in critical need of attention. We do not operate like a regular vet clinic and are unable to accommodate emergencies or clients who do not have an appointment booked. We hate having to turn people away, but the needs of you and your pet will be much better served by seeking appropriate veterinary attention in an emergency. The clinic can be called on 9267 7125 for bookings of non-urgent appointments.
17.01.2022 At our Murdoch Campus, students in the Certificate III in Pet Grooming can help you with all your dogs grooming needs! Give them a call on 9229 8437 to discuss what options are available! Grooming is available on Thursdays and Fridays in Terms 3 and 4.
15.01.2022 Wishing a very happy Vet Nurses Day to all our current and past students (and staff!).

15.01.2022 WE ARE NEARING THE END OF 2019! As our students start to wind up their studies for 2019, please be aware that this means a decrease in availability of surgery and clinic sessions. We only have FOUR surgery slots available until the end of Term 4, and our next available wont be until February 2020. Clinic will still run for the next few weeks but we are booking up very quickly so please get in touch as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.... The clinic will officially close for 2019 on Friday the 13th of December. We will start taking bookings for 2020 in mid-January.
13.01.2022 A big shoutout to our friends at The Unusual Pet Vets who helped our vets by seeing one of our green tree frogs today who has a bit of an eye issue. As you know, we dont specialise in exotic animals so we had to make an appointment to see the knowledgeable vets at The Unusual Pet Vets in Murdoch. Froggy now has a treatment (and weight management) plan and is hopefully on the mend!
12.01.2022 WE ARE BACK FOR 2020! We have a brand new batch of students joining our continuing students this year and they are all excited and ready to go! The clinic re-opens again this week, but please be aware that the availability of appointments will be heavily restricted for the first 7 weeks. We are unable to be flexible with these hours, so we recommend having another clinic in mind as backup in case we are not available. We are happy to forward your pets history to another clini...c in the event you have to go elsewhere. Surgery appointments will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays only until the 9th of March. We expect these spots to book up quickly so please get in early to avoid disappointment.

03.01.2022 Our Cert II in Animal Studies students were very lucky to be able to visit the stables at the Maylands Police Complex today and were given a tour of the facilities by Acting Sgt Zac Barry who gave the group a great overview of what life on the job is like for their equine workmates. Correct management of these horses is very important to ensure they are in the best condition possible to perform their roles, and it was very interesting to learn their care routines, from their feeding and grooming to dental care and protective equipment. A big thanks to Sgt Barry (and Matilda!) for taking the time out to talk to our students.
02.01.2022 Just a reminder that we are back open for appointments. Make an appointment now for for your furry friend- cat, dog or rabbit. Call us on 9267 7125.
