11.01.2022 Most recent interesting case: A 2 year old filly who hit her face on a gate. One of her front teeth was displaced with the force. We created some braces for her so the permanent tooth will come through in the best possible position. The wire was covered so it doesn't damage her lip.

06.01.2022 This is a good example of how a fractured tooth can allow infection to track up through the pulp cavity and cause a tooth root abscess. This is a dog's tooth but the same thing can occur in horses. The tooth has been sectioned into 3 parts to remove the roots more easily. You can see the nice pink healthy nerve tissue at the tip of 2 of the roots and the 3rd is black and the nerve tissue is dead. This allows for a highway of bacteria coming in from the mouth tracking up the dead nerve and creating an abscess in the jaw. Very painful for the animal and the best treatment is extraction.

06.01.2022 Remember to always get a professional to do your dentals. This horses pulp cavity has been opened and damaged by over zealous floating. Besides being very painful at the the time, it will now depend on x-rays whether this otherwise would have been healthy tooth needs to be removed.
