25.01.2022 Puppies and puppies and puppies, oh my! These beautiful bouncy French Bulldog puppies had their health checks, first vaccination and microchips implanted by our Vet On The Run team this week, ready to go to their new homes soon. Just look at those faces! Nurse Zoe almost snuck one puppy home with her, and who can blame her!

25.01.2022 WIRES rescue line is currently experiencing high volumes of calls. Many of these calls are to report birds on the ground that do not necessarily need assistance.... These young birds that are leaving the nest but are still dependent upon parental care and feeding are called fledglings. People often want to help fledglings, as they appear vulnerable, but it is best to leave them alone, keep your domestic pets contained indoors and observe. Read more http://bit.ly/Bird-Chicks This is the case for Noisy Miner, Currawong and Magpie fledglings. The young depart the nest before they are fully capable of sustained flight and before they are able to fly upwards. At this critical stage they will commonly be seen on the ground flapping their wings, running and hopping to help develop their flight muscles. This is normal behaviour. The parent birds may not be immediately visible but they will usually be around and still feeding, protecting and teaching them to forage for food whilst they are on the ground and it can take several days or a week or more for some birds to develop the skill to fly from the ground. This is a natural process and may take several days. If you see a feathered chick of either of these species on the ground please leave them be unless they are clearly injured. In most cases the parents will be nearby. Some young birds like parrots and kookaburras are able to fly directly from the nest and if they are seen on the ground for extended periods and are unable to fly or look very young you will need to call for advice.

25.01.2022 Facts: - 18million hectares - 3000 homes - 1 billion animals... Some vets have been significantly affected by the fires, including members who have lost their homes and farms, as well those who have lost their livelihoods. The trauma suffered by many veterinarians has not stopped and will likely continue for some time. The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) has a fund set to assist veterinarians in hardship the AVA Benevolent Fund. This fund will assist anyone in the profession impacted by the fires, and those treating injured animals from their communities including pets and wildlife. Your donation will be a valuable contribution to assist the communities financially impacted by the fires as well as veterinarians doing pro-bono work to assist injured wildlife and animals. https://www.ava.com.au/donate/ #vetmed #veterinarian #vettech #vetstudent #vetnurse #veterinarymedicine #vetmedlife #repost @drgerardopoli @dralexhynes @drsuecancervet @vettechprobs @snarkynurses @vet.lauren @drmoore.studentvet @vettechkelsey @traveling_dogtor @travelling_vet @avmavets @austvetassociation @australiazoo @vetgirlontherun @danny_the_vet @travelling_vet @future.dr.sabrina @thatvetsean @drrosshenderson @cat_the_vet @dr.evanantin @codycreelmancowvet @rorythevet @jungle_doctor @thecowdoc @louisa_the_vet @drjgreenwood @dreadyvet @doctor_brooke @kate.the.vet

23.01.2022 Signs to look out for if you have a pet rabbit

22.01.2022 It was puppy central last week with a litter of adorable 6 week old Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppies who received a house call checkup, vaccination and microchipping ready to find their new homes shortly! Dr Ben and nurse Zoe were head over heels for this little miss in particular- she was all smiles as you can see! Some of the benefits of having a house call visit for your litters is:... - easier to manage multiple animals- no need to a large car with a dozen crates! - keep pups or kittens with mum where they feel safe (and mum doesnt stress apart from them) - lowered risk of picking up disease when their immune system is not fully protected - convenient appointment times available on weekdays and weekends At Vet On The Run we have a fully stocked mobile ambulance with the same professional veterinary team to attend to your pets routine needs in the convenience and comfort of your own home. To find out more about our veterinary house call services email [email protected]

12.01.2022 In memory of Kaleb & Matilda 12 months ago ln less than 5 weeks we said goodbye to both pets of one of our lovely clients due to abdominal cancer. Jodie, Kaleb ...and Matilda's mum, is a medical sonologist with high level of knowledge and experience with ultrasound machines. Some time ago we asked her to help us find a good second hand ultrasound unit for our clinic, but what she did was very heart touching. Unfortunately we lost both Kaleb and Matilda to splenic cancer in less than 2 months of each other. A week later we recieved a large gift hamper and a thank you card with almost $1000 donation towards our ultrasound machine. And now after 12 months we used that money and another $29000 to purchase our brand new Italian made ultrasound unit. Thank you Jodie And RIP Kaleb and Matilda #bestpets #animalcancer #harboursidevet #vetontherun

12.01.2022 Last weekend the team from Australian Veterinary Corporation headed over to visit all the lovely kennel kids at Greyhound Rescue. Dr Ben, Dr Tiffany with the help of nurses Zoe and Tara performed health checks on all the greyhounds at the rescue! Greyhounds are such sweet dogs, that have a world of care and love to offer. We absolutely loved spending our day with them. ... The staff and volunteers at the shelter put so much time and love into these animals to ensure they are completely taken care of until they find their fur-ever homes So we decided to ask the companies we work with for some donations and surprised them with lots of goodies for the hounds ! We would like to thank Hills Pet Nutrition, Boehringer Ingelheim, Saxon Agencies, Greenies & Dermcare for their generous donations
