23.01.2022 Connor’s case shows how well #teamworkmakesthedreamwork . He has had a progressive cervical spine neuropathy for a while but was functional until the end of July when he became laterally recumbent and unable to rise. His imaging studies indicated significant spinal cord compression and atrophy at C6-7 due to a protruding intervertebral disc at this level and his owners elected to have surgical decompression of this disc even with a guarded prognosis for recovery. 20.01.2022 Here’s an update on Winston, to bring us all another #saturdaysmile He presented 6 weeks after spinal surgery following acute onset grade 4 #intervertebraldiscdisease at T13/L1 for an individually designed veterinary rehab program. The videos are from his first visit with us and his revisit this week, two months later. Our goals were to reduce pain and rebuild strength and function. He has definitely achieved these; no longer needing pain relief and able to move more normally. Our new goal is to get him back to his pre-injury level of function. We have previously posted videos of her progress but added her most recent video to the end of this one: trotting happily through our hospital. 18.01.2022 Pepper is a fantastic example of the power of #veterinaryrehabilitation : she had not been walking for a couple of weeks before her owners brought her in to see us. After a complete #vetrehabservices assessment, we noted a number of reasons for this. Most significant was her pelvic malpositioning (see video), secondary to a number of other problems. The great news is that #vetrehabworks and even with just one treatment she was walking MUCH better . 12.01.2022 Our #facesofvetrehabservices graduate for the week is RJ He presented for hindlimb lameness that didn’t resolve with pain relief and rest. We found moderately reduced right hip extension and painful muscles supporting this hip, as well as moderately restricted right shoulder extension with pain as end feel. The flexors of this shoulder were also painful. His left shoulder was also affected trying to compensate for these two problem areas. We are super proud to say that over... the past 14 weeks RJ has worked really hard and all of these problems have resolved AND he is no longer on pain relief and anti-inflammatory medications He is back to jogging with his dad again and starting to play ball again too. 01.01.2022 Here’s a #saturdayinspiration story about Stumples: he is 7 months old now and was born missing the distal part of his front legs from the elbow down. He has therefore never been able to walk like a dog. In addition, when we first met him he had painful hips and shoulders making it even more awkward to move and practice standing with his spine horizontally. Over the past month, with pain relief on board, his parents have been working on improving joint mobility and posturing him in a standing position in preparation for getting him some #walkinwheels and look at how well they have done!
