19.01.2022 We still have House Call appointments available for this Wednesday!

19.01.2022 WHEN YOU MAY CONSIDER REQUESTING A HOUSE CALL FROM US: Older pets Some pets find it difficult to make it to the vet, whether it is because of sore joints or another issue.... Stressed pets Many pets (cats in particular), dont like travelling in their cat carrier, making it more difficult for the examining veterinarian to evaluate your pet. In some instances, a home visit is more practical. Mobility issues We dont believe that immobility or not having a car should be impediments to getting high-quality veterinary care.

19.01.2022 Feeding patients after surgery! We have a lot of little rescue pups come in for surgery and feeding them after gives us an idea on how well they are recovering 1. It stabilisers the blood sugar and 2. Ensures that they alert enough to go home while also being monitored for nausea and vomiting #luckypawsrescue

12.01.2022 What does tartar do to the teeth? If tartar is allowed to remain on the teeth, several things may happen. The tartar will mechanically push the gums away from t...he roots of the teeth. This allows the teeth to loosen in their sockets and infection to enter the root socket. The teeth will loosen and fall out or have to be extracted. Infection will accumulate in the mouth, resulting in gingivitis, tonsillitis, and pharyngitis (sore throat). Although antibiotics may temporarily suppress the infection, if the tartar is not removed from the teeth, infection will return quickly. Infection within the mouth will be picked up by the blood stream and carried to other parts of the body. Some kidney and heart disease may be caused by this infection. FREE dental checks are available with our staff to evaluate the degree of tartar on your pets teeth.

12.01.2022 Dogs dont care which god we believe in. Dogs dont care which colour we are or where we came from. Today, and all days, lets love like dogs. ... Colourblind. Our hearts are breaking for our Kiwi and our Muslim friends and all of the Christchurch community. If we could put a pretty pink bandage on your pain to make it better we would. All we can do is send love and spread love. Kia Kaha Aotearoa. Salam.

07.01.2022 To all of our wonderful Mount Cotton clients, It is with great sadness that we announce that Vets By The Bay Mount Cotton will not be reopening its doors. Like many other veterinary clinics at the moment, we have battled to find veterinary staff for nearly 2 years now and as such the vets we do have, have been stretched too thin for some time. With the lease coming up for renewal and still no vets in sight we have made the tough decision to close the doors for good. Vets B...y The Bay will still continue to operate out of our fully equipped Wellington Point premises and all of our client and patient records are fully accessible from there. Here we will be able to offer an even better level of care, with greater vet contact hours. You will also be able to find all of our friendly team there, so please feel free to come visit us, we would be very happy to see you! As a courtesy we will continue to offer our mobile housecall service FREE OF CHARGE to any current Mount Cotton clients that choose to stay with us. This will be offered on specific days only, so please contact the clinic on either 3822 2333 or 3829 9199 for further information or to book an appointment. If you decide you would prefer to relocate to another local clinic, we completely understand and we are more than happy to transfer your records over for your convenience. Please dont hesitate to give us a call. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause and we thank you for your continued support. From all of the team at Vets by the Bay
