21.01.2022 Nefertiti keeping warm Did you know one of the most important things we can do for our patients during surgery is keep them warm? A prolonged cold body temperature can result in poor healing, prolonged recovery time and even organ damage, so as you can guess, we take this very seriously! ... Nefertiti is recovering from her dental with a Bair hugger (the red pillow that is inflated with warm air), warming pads under her, paws in little baby socks and ears wrapped in bubble wrap (kinda like a doggy beanie! ) to prevent natural heat loss from her extremities

18.01.2022 RAT BAIT TOXICITY Sadly we have been seeing a larger number of dogs AND cats suffering from clotting disorders as a result of eating rat bait When ingested by your pet, commercial rat baits remove the vitamin K stores in the body. Vitamin K helps to form blood clots, so without it pets can bleed readily internally or externally. ... YOU MAY NOT SEEN ANY CLINICAL SIGNS OF RAT BAIT POISON FOR >72hrs after ingestion. This is a life threatening condition. If you think your pet may have eaten rat bait CALL THE VET ASAP and If ingested within 1hr, we will make your pet vomit. If ingested at an unknown time during the day, still call the vet and we may recommend a blood test. 08.01.2022 WOAH! What a puppy! Wrecks is 16wks old in this photo and an absolute charmer At his final puppy check, he weighed in at 23.1kg! Which is nothing considering male Boerboels can weigh up to a healthy 90kg when fully grown! We don't think Dr Tina will be able to pick him up for much longer!

06.01.2022 WoooHooooo!!! Back to 'normal'!!!! As of Monday, we will be returning back to normal operations, meaning owners and patients can enter the clinic together. 02.01.2022 The team went for a lovely walk around Granite Island a week ago, before covid restrictions were in place Now that they have eased, we hope everyone is back out enjoying the sun and the beautiful place we live! Dr Alan had the honour of giving young Charlie (Dr Ash’s little monkey ) a piggyback around the whole island! Luckily, we had delicious donuts, milkshakes and strawberries at the end!
