16.01.2022 Navigation Hazard - Kananook Ck Dredging Just in time for the long weekend Let’s just hope the BoM is out with their forecast

15.01.2022 Dredging Works Patterson River Finally getting rid of that bar. Navigate with caution and remember which side to pass the dredge - diamonds by day, and green lights by night.

14.01.2022 We've been out training in critical skills pending today's relaxing of restrictions. Bar crossing is a critical skill for all boaters, here we have one of our skippers instructing a newer member how to cross the bar on the back of the wave. The waves weren't big, but were a lot bigger than the video shows - we think he did ok on his first attempt (y)

13.01.2022 2nd for the morning, Melbourne lock-down made vessel maintenance a bit more difficult, but it also gave most people more time for maintenance too, whether you have a PWC, Powerboat, or Yacht. Remember to take a phone with you and if you need us call "000" and the nearest Rescue Vessel will be sent to your location. Safety by All Means

10.01.2022 Training day, Saturday 28Nov2020 - enhancing the skills and knowledge of some of our members, where the classroom meets the water. Safety By All Means

09.01.2022 Navigation Hazard - Kananook Creek Survey works being conducted all Saturday - keep watch for survey vessels and divers Safety By All Means

09.01.2022 PSA - Some COVID Restrictions Reintroduced Stay Sensible, Stay Safe

08.01.2022 After lunch training - 2m seas posed too much risk to winch paramedics on and off the Rescue Vessel, so a shot bag is used in its place. This High Line would then be used to guide a paramedic down to the deck.

08.01.2022 Honourary skipper Peta Murphy MP Federal Member for Dunkley last Sunday was set a course to steer while she learned about what we do - we think Peta found it a little different to driving on a road :D Thank you Peta for your ongoing interest and support More from Peta's day with us in our timeline (y)

08.01.2022 Late last night we were activated to a sighting of a distress flare on a boat off Frankston. We could not locate the vessel and were confident that we did not miss it in our search. Our crew ended up at the boat ramps, enquiring if anyone at the ramps were aware of the vessel being brought back, to no avail. Letting off a flare if your vessel is disabled is absolutely acceptable, and if a passing fisho tows you back in or you get your boat started again, please please please phone "000" to let them know you are OK, as there may well be several Rescue Vessels or even aircraft on their way and don't know you that you have made it back safely.

08.01.2022 We took the time yesterday for a service and minor repairs, back on the water now for this amazing boating weather. Although we do monitor VHF #16, the best option is ring "000" if you need us and learn how to read your lat/long off your sounder, it will bring us straight to you. (and of course, we were activated while RES303 was in the lift, responded in our very capable secondary Rescue Vessel CG201, sorry no pics of her in action though) Safety by all means

06.01.2022 Sun 25Oct20 - Critical Skills Training for our next generation of Coxswains in our new Rescue Vessel. RES303 is about 2m longer than our old CG01 and sits much higher above the waterline. The strong swirling breeze today is a great opportunity for our members to start getting used to the windage - he did a good job, but my oh my those gates can start to look very narrow if you get out of shape on the approach. If you do get out of shape, back up, settle yourself, and start again - Safety by All Means

04.01.2022 What a great day for a public holiday, so many boats out today. Remember our "COVID Winter" has meant than many boats haven't gotten wet for a long time, make sure you are on top of your maintenance before you get back on the water. Safety by All Means

02.01.2022 The highly skilled Aquatic Paramedics and Flight Crew of HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) are required to re-qualify annually. Part of the re-qual is winching a paramedic onto the deck of a moving rescue vessel. The rescue vessel has to be moving at a fair rate of knots to avoid being blown away from the paramedic by the downdraft of the chopper. Click here https://www.facebook.com/events/909877996488202/ for details of our Information Night to find out how you may have a chance of crewing one of our rescue vessels for these exercises

01.01.2022 Tidal Gates - Whalers Cove, Patterson Lakes Navigate with caution.
