Two factors which top my list are preserving the remaining tooth structure and of course ensuring high end aesthetics to boost their confidence. 15.01.2022 Management of Young Dentition . . Patient had conventional orthodontic treatment to correct significant malocclusion but few pieces of the puzzle were still missing. Young dentitions are challenging as there is always a desire for considerable improvement and conservation of tooth structure is the highest priority. 14.01.2022 Single Central Challenge - Failed single veneer! . . Why did the old veneer failed? Was it poor bonding or occlusion or both?? Exisitng prep under the old veneer was certainly quite extensive. Not much enamel was left to bond to. May be this was the main reason along with poor bonding technique. I decided to change the prep to a crown to achieve a bit it resistance and retention form and gain more enamel to bond too. Aesthetically, there were a few challenges as well. 21 m...esio-distal space was wider than 11 which meant playing with the shape and line angles, there was an existing occlusal cant and to top it all patient has beautiful teeth with a high smile line. Never the less I had the amazing @szabi.hant on my side (my secret weapon). Complexity of case did mean a few try-ins but was worth it in the end. This is by far my best single central and Szabi once again has outdone himself, always so grateful. Patient was thrilled too which is the aim behind all this. 12.01.2022 EROSION is ever so increasing problem in our practices. I am seeing younger and younger patients presenting with erosive lesions. A very conservative treatment with additive direct composites is often sufficient as a long term solution. 12.01.2022 When smiles matters! . . Beauty does come at a cost but not all rehabs need to be invasive. A mostly addtive approach with little to no tooth preparation. Here direct composite layering was used but ceramics can be used as well if desired in a similar manner. Age appropriate aesthetics is what makes these transformation worth the effort. 11.01.2022 Conventional crown and bridge is still a very viable option in restoring and replacing teeth when implants are not possible. These can sometimes be even more predictable aesthetically than implants. Here the central incisor was restored with a layered zirconia crown and a mesial cantilever porcelain fused to metal bridge from the canine replacing the lateral incisor after failure of the old 3 unit- bridge. 10.01.2022 Single Central! One of the trickiest/hardest thing in prosthodontic is restoration of a single central. There are multiple factors that needs to be considered in achieving acceptable results like diagnostics, prep design, shade communication, provisionalisation and bonding protocols. Often I see both centrals being prepared for veneers/crowns to get a better aesthetic result. That I a huge disservice to our patient. With proper shade communication we can avoid this and still... get great results for our patients. Using whitecard and cross polarizer protocol has made it so easy. I use bio emulation white card and cross polarizer by hantdental.com, check it out if you already are not using one. I highly recommend it.
