25.01.2022 It sounds cliche, but your job confidence and your ability to take those next steps really does come down to your own self belief. From the time you decide to apply for a role, you need to be in self belief mode and know why you are drawn to the role. This will show through in your resume and application and is certainly a major aspect of influence for an interview.... Believe in yourself and it will show through! 24.01.2022 Plan B! Love them and think they are so underrated. Isnt it your Plan B that sometimes forms the A plan? Or turns out to be the better path in the end? Embrace the options, the right path with show itself.... This is so true when job hunting or changing careers. Many a story of people who state they will take a job until X becomes available or until they find something better, and then find out that they are in the right role for the right time. Keep an open mind and respect Plan B and C and.....

24.01.2022 Welcome to the end of the week! Time to relax and enjoy the weekend, and where possible take time out for yourself. Self-care remains important as we continue with some uncertainty - it allows you to create and maintain a healthy body and mindset. How will you spend the weekend?

23.01.2022 Job applications in certain fields may request a National Police Check to be provided, either with your application or during pre-employment checks. If you are asked to provide one, firstly check out your state Police Service or Australian Federal Police for their pricing and service times. A google search will likely bring up a range of ads for companies that provide the service also but you may find that you are paying a higher fee than going directly to the Police Servic...e. Each service will provide advice on who can apply in their state. You may need to confirm requirements with your future employer.

22.01.2022 Embrace critiques and knock backs and rock it! Someone’s idea of a crappy coffee is someone else’s best coffee ever.

20.01.2022 Mindset is incredibly valuable in how you approach your every day life, and also features strongly in your working life. The right mindset is your super power, so what does mindset mean? In simple terms it is how you view or perceive something - your attitude. Whilst this is an established viewpoint it doesnt mean you cant create mindset, to change an attitude or find a way to view things differently. Mindset is powerful as it can be the reason you walk into an interview ...with a confident stride and welcoming smile that says I got this. Or it can be the less confident option, that is still wondering how you got the interview. A lack of confidence in yourself will show as brightly as the confident stride. Understanding what you have to offer is not easy, particularly if your applications are going unanswered, and this is so common right now. The job market is a new and strange place and is adapting to living with changed circumstances, so this puts the pressure on more. It is important though to remember that although you cant control external circumstances, you can control your internal dialogue, and this is when a positive mindset comes in. Take the time to sit and write down everything you think you do well, in all aspects of your life and then use that list to remind yourself daily that you are amazing. Then double down and use that same list to transfer to your work skills and actually see what you can offer an employer, either your current one or a new one. Show it, believe it, embody it and the mindset will follow. How is your mindset?

19.01.2022 Is this how your resume is presenting you to a recruiter? Are you hiding the best of who you are? Your resume is your brand and absolutely must project a sense of who you are, which is more than just a list of responsibilities on a page. Show how you achieve a tasking, the why it matters to the company or your part as a collaborator or communicator.... Take each opportunity to show your strengths and make the reader want to know more. If you are not showing up on your resume then you cannot expect the person reading it to see what a great fit you would be. How do you show up on your resume?

19.01.2022 I am very grateful that I have been able to assist so many people seeking their next role. I love what I do, and my client reactions to their documents is priceless. Adding a touch of confidence for my clients and taking away the stress of navigating the modern job scene is why I do this. It has been a very busy time lately so today was a day for me. A guilty day of snuggling up (it was cold today in SE Qld) and relaxing. A good reminder that we all need to take time for ...ourselves. If you would like assistance with your next application or to update your resume, please reach out soon as I am sitting close to capacity each week at the moment. I would love to help though, so get in touch and lets light up your job search path. Email [email protected] with your requirements and I will be in touch .

18.01.2022 Have you sat down and brainstormed your skills? Do you know how much you have to offer an employer? Most people underestimate what they have done and how they achieve in their roles. When writing a resume it is easy to just list your daily tasks, add in the programs you use etc. Whilst everyone has tasks and responsibilities that they do each day (the What), the How and Why are often not included - these are your Soft Skills and often the most important.... For example, you may be responsible for answering the phone at a professional organisation so on your resume you include Telephone inquiries. It says the What but nothing more. It doesnt tell the reader how many calls you take, how you manage the inquiries, your communication skills, your ability to listen and assist or direct the call appropriately. Instead you could turn Telephone Inquiries into: Create a professional first impression for clients through active listening techniques to ensure a positive outcome. There are many ways to do this, but now you are showing your worth - you understand that clients are calling in, maybe for the first time, and that your first contact with them may start their journey to becoming a client. The next step in that journey is ensuring that they get the service or answer that they need. It may just be to make an appointment, but you will ensure that you have made the appointment for them with the right person, for the correct amount of time. This is the picture you are starting to paint for the reader of your resume, they are now seeing your worth. Back it up in your next dot point and you are now becoming interesting to the reader. Are you showing your worth? If not, then it is time to revamp your resume. Need help to revamp? Lets chat!

18.01.2022 Proofread, proofread, proofread! Imagine the feeling of applying for your dream job and then realising your application has flaws. These could be spelling mistakes, typos or incorrect grammar. When I write a resume, or any application document for my clients, I always allow time for the documents to settle. ... Walking away from your written work and then returning to proofread will invariably pick up an issue that you hadnt in the five times you read it previously. Spelling errors or typos may mean that your application does not make sense or your keywords and all the effort you have done to write to the application may be lost if it goes through Applicant Tracking Software. If you are not confident in the content of your resume, then ask a friend to check or contact a professional resume writer, The investment will be worth it. Need your resume checked? We provide a resume review service and have availability this week. If you would like further information, contact Gabrielle [email protected]

13.01.2022 A personal insight by Alexandra Armitage Earlier this year I accepted a new position. Between accepting and starting a little thing happened in the world, so by the time I commenced the job, work from home was happening. After two days in the office it was time for me to start working from home. That was over three months ago now and it has been interesting. 13.01.2022 What is a Resume? Simply put it is a record of your work history and education; yes that is exactly what it is in essence, but an effective resume is so much more. A resume is a marketing tool. It is your chance to sell yourself, beyond just stating where and what you did. It is your change to piece together the why you are suitable for a role.... An effective resume should highlight your achievements and create a sense of who you are. It should be succinct yet able to sell why you are worth a second look, and ultimately an interview or contact with an employer or recruiter. With technology such a large part of the recruitment process, your resume should also be written with Applicant Tracking Software in mind and reflective of the application. A resume should be a curated document that represents you in the best possible light. Sound easy? Often knowing and understanding what our achievements and skills are, and actually selling ourselves is the hardest part of marketing ourselves. What a resume should not do is sell you short. An investment in your resume is an investment in your future goals How is the health of your resume? Does it meet expectations of todays job market? Applying for jobs and hearing crickets? Finding it all too stressful or just not sure how to sell yourself? If you need to update and refresh your resume then contact Gabrielle now. #showupforyourself #resume #jobsearch #jobsincanberra #brisbanejobs #jobapplicationtips #vibecareers #brisbane #canberra

13.01.2022 The chances of your resume being read by a human are reducing, unless you provide an application that is written with the aim of beating the software. That software is called Applicant Tracking Software (ATS) and is being used by recruitment agencies and many organisations to slim down the applicant pool to those that meet the pre-coded requirements. If your application doesnt the pass ATS then, unfortunately, it doesnt matter how good an applicant you are it is very unlik...ely that your application will proceed to the right pile. Job vacancies are well down and applicant numbers are doubling so if you are looking to improve your chances then it is time to ensure your resume hits the mark. Simple steps such as ensuring there is a good balance of white space to words can come down to the right template format. Be wary of templates that match the American style as they are not right for the Australian market. Remove excessive colour or photos (unless requested for the position) as these may make your application difficult to read by the ATS. The main tip is to bring the key words from the advertisement into your application. This can be trickier than it sounds and may take practice to get the right balance and mix. If it is time to refresh your resume to be ATS compliant then contact Vibe Careers now. Bookings are limited so dont delay to grab your spot. Contact Gabrielle [email protected]

09.01.2022 What does your email address convey to a potential employer? Does it sound professional and reflect who you are? 07.01.2022 Just as most of us are feeling quite comfortable working from home the transition back to the workplace has begun. In the same way that we explored new ways to work when we started to leave the workplace for our homes, the same is almost the case again. Our way of working has changed, how we want to work has, in some cases, experienced an enlightenment with many people now seeing that there is alternatives to fronting up at the work place each day. 01.01.2022 When a cover letter is not a cover letter You have found the job, prepared your resume to match the job skill set and are ready to write your cover letter. Job ads may ask for a Cover Letter, or a Cover Letter that addresses why you are suitable for the position or a Statement (often called a one page pitch) of up to xx words that aligns with the job requirements and criteria.... So how should you approach this and what are the differences? A Cover Letter is just that, it is a document in a letter format with who you are addressing and the normal formalities of a letter. It therefore includes top and tail paragraphs to express the reason for writing and to finish the letter off politely. There is an opportunity to spell out why you are suitable for the role in a couple of paragraphs make sure you use this space well, and consider the job add to hit as many key points as possible. If you are being asked to provide or address specific information, make sure you do. This is where you need to check carefully what you are being asked to provide and how you provide it. If you are being asked for a statement or one page pitch then you would approach this similar to answering selection criteria. Start by ensuring that you understand what the recruiter is wanting to see from your application and what they see as an ideal candidate this will likely include skills, experience and your personal attributes the what you will bring to the conversation. Reading the application and working through what the position is about is imperative but also understanding who the organisation is looking for is just as vital. Once you have written your cover letter/statement return to your resume and make sure they align. If you have featured something in your letter, have you also mentioned it in your resume? Consistency across your documents shows attention to detail but also that you care about your application to the organisation.

01.01.2022 It has been such a privilege over the past couple of weeks to work with 2020 graduate nurses to assist them to apply for their graduate programs. Compassionate, bright, engaging and motivated - it was lovely to get to know them and to hear about why they are drawn to their profession and specialisations. Wishing them the best of luck and looking forward to hearing which lucky hospital they end up at to take their next career steps.

01.01.2022 Always know that is ok not to be ok. Today is R U OK and World Suicide Prevention Day and whilst the perfect time to check in with family and friends, it is also good practice across the year. So today, I am asking R U Ok?
