10.01.2022 Q: Which should I do first, cardio or weights? A: As with almost everything fitness related, the answer depends on your goals! However, for the MOST part, people will get added benefits if they put strength training first.... Here are two reasons why: You’ll be stronger and less fatigued when you do weight training first, which can improve your workout performance. This could also help you avoid injury related to being pre-fatigued before you start your workout! Doing cardio last has an added benefit. A study done by the American Council on Exercise found that when people did cardio after strength, their heart rates were higher than they were when they did cardio first. That means they didn’t have to work out extra hard to get their heart rates up into their cardio training zone. PLUS: Because the body uses up stored carbs as fuel for the strength workout, there’s a slight boost in the amount of fat burned during the cardio session. Which do YOU do first!? 01.01.2022 UNCONVENTIONAL GRATITUDE It is the season for gratitude! It is Thanksgiving today in the USA after all. It’s pretty easy to be thankful for the upbeat things that make us feel secure, happy, and healthy. I’m talking about your home, your family, your car, holidays, kittens, cheesecake, etc. ... I am very grateful for so many things this year but this season I’m challenging myself to be thankful for some more unconventional things that weren’t always so upbeat. Like rebranding a business at the start of a pandemic and being shut down for 3 months OR losing team members and potentially losing the studio... Do I wish these could have been avoided? Sometimes yes. But if I’m being honest, the last 12months is exactly what I, the business and the world has needed Lockdown was very difficult for a lot of people but I am choosing to focus on the good that came out of it. Did you know that during lockdown, air pollution all over the world decreased and pet adoptions increased? We reconnected with ourselves and made memories with loved ones. We became grateful for the simple things in life (like washing your hands) and realised how important it is to be prepared (#toiletpapercrisis). Personally, I’ve realized even more deeply how all of this was leading us to exactly what we needed to grow. I thought we were resilient before Covid but this just goes to show that there is strength in your challenges and I am super grateful for the unity that we have formed since reopening. Unity within our team, our beautiful clients and our ever so supportive friends and family. Life doesn’t give you anything you can’t handle. For every problem you have, there is a solution you just haven’t thought of it yet! In addition to learning these lessons it’s about forming strong bonds, being compassionate, caring and continually remaining positive in a world that wants you to believe the sky is fallingIt’s time to reset our priorities, appreciate people, value our time, be present in every moment and standing up for what you believe in!
