25.01.2022 Congratulations Ben McFarlane from the Y11/12 team on your debut with the Perth Football Club Colts team today #33

25.01.2022 Only 6 days left to save Higgins Park We believe that limited Town financial resources should be spent on community needs not duplicating resources already ...available and not compromising established clubs. Numerous independent and contemporary reports (as recent as July 2020) have summarised that Victoria Park already has ample access to synthetic hockey turfs, and in fact has amongst the HIGHEST level of accessibility in all of metro Perth. You MUST take action to ensure this proposal does not become a reality Complete the Your Thoughts survey to let the council know we do not want to lose our public open space, lose mature trees or see the weakening or relocation of our local football club for an unsubstantiated, unjustified and expensive limited shared use fenced synthetic hockey facility at Higgins Park. ACTION 1: FOLLOW THE LINK BELOW AND MAKE IT CLEAR TO COUNCIL THAT YOU: STRONGLY SUPPORT THE SPORTING CONFIGURATION OF OPTION 3 STRONGLY OPPOSE THE SPORTING CONFIGURATIONS OF OPTION 1 AND 2 https://yourthoughts.victoriapark.wa.gov.au/higgins-park-ma ACTION 2: EXPRESS YOUR OPINION: Contact the Town of Victoria Park and let them know your thoughts on the proposed development of Higgins Park and reduction of public open green space: Email the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors and cc [email protected] to ensure your emails are recorded: Mayor Karen Vernon: [email protected] Deputy Mayor, Bronwyn Ife: [email protected] Cr Claire Anderson: [email protected] Cr Brian Oliver: [email protected] Cr Wilfred Hendriks: [email protected] Cr Jesvin Karimi : [email protected] Cr Luana Lisandro: [email protected] Cr Ronhhda Potter: [email protected] Cr Vicky Potter: [email protected]

24.01.2022 If you do not want to lose your ability to freely access precious public open space and parkland OR see the relocation and weakening of our great football club who has called Higgins Park home for 70 years for an unsubstantiated, unjustified expensive limited shared use fenced synthetic hockey facility then you MUST HAVE YOUR SAY. https://yourthoughts.victoriapark.wa.gov.au//s/submission STRONGLY SUPPORT THE SPORTING CONFIGURATION OF OPTION 3... 20.01.2022 HELP SAVE OUR CLUB Public Comment opens Wednesday. Higgins Park & Playfield Reserve Masterplan... At last Tuesday’s ToVP Council Meeting, the elected members voted to put all three options of the Higgins Park Masterplan out to public comment. We asked the elected members to remove Options 1 and 2 from the masterplan as they SERIOUSLY THREATEN OUR FUTURE. Option 1 is the WORST outcome for the Vic Park Raiders as it will force us to spread further throughout even more grounds, weaking our club’s key strength our sense of belonging and community. This is unfeasible, impractical and unreasonable and threatens our future viability. Option 2 is UNSATISFACTORY The process by which Option 2 was included in the Masterplan was procedurally unfair and in conflict with Town staff recommendations and independent advice, furthermore Option 2 has been confirmed by the Town to be unfeasible as there is no alternative location for our club. Option 3 IS STRONGLY SUPPORTED as it is the only option where the Raiders can continue to grow and thrive at Higgins Park. Under Option 3, the oval will be reconfigured allowing us better use of the green public open space and for all our teams (girls and boys) to play at our home ground, Higgins Park. Visit the ToVP Your Thoughts page from Wednesday and have your say. Be clear. Encourage others to do the same. The Mayor stated at the recent OCM that the feedback she has received is about equal for hockey and the football supporters. Don’t sit back and think this is so ridiculous it will never happen the reality is this is happening and we need you to have your say. 15.01.2022 Save Our Soil HELP SAVE THE RAIDERS’ HOME - HIGGINS PARK The Town of Vic Park are seeking public comment on the future of Higgins Park including the very real possibility of building a FENCED SYNTHETIC HOCKEY TURF ON OUR GROUNDS ending the Raiders’ time at Higgins after 70 years of junior footy there.... PLEASE HELP US by providing feedback to the Town and the elected members that footy belongs at Higgins Park and the public should not lose trees and access to its spacious, green public open space to a fenced synthetic hockey turf. Follow this link: https://yourthoughts.victoriapark.wa.gov.au//s/submission STRONGLY SUPPORT THE SPORTING CONFIGURATION OF OPTION 3 STRONGLY OPPOSE THE SPORTING CONFIGURATIONS OF OPTION 1 AND 2 1Strongly Oppose Option 1 The WORST outcome for the Vic Park Raiders as it will force us to spread further throughout even more grounds, weaking our club’s key strength our sense of belonging and community. This is unfeasible, impractical, unreasonable and threatens our future viability. 2Strongly Oppose Option 2 UNACCEPTABLE It removes football from Higgins Park The process by which Option 2 was included in the Masterplan was procedurally unfair and in conflict with Town staff recommendations and independent advice. It is out of scope as the hockey turfs are NOT on the Hillview Terrace side of Higgins Park. Furthermore Option 2 has been confirmed by the Town to be unfeasible as there is no alternative location for our club. 3Strongly Support Option 3 STRONGLY SUPPORTED as it is the only option where the Raiders can continue to grow and thrive at Higgins Park. 15.01.2022 We are pleased to be able to update you that due to the impact on the community, Town staff have reported that the inclusion of a fenced synthetic hockey turf at Higgins Park is unfeasible. Stay tuned for further updates and a huge THANK YOU to everyone who made their voice heard

12.01.2022 TIME IS RUNNING OUT!! Please click on the link below if you haven't done so already and help save our Club. https://yourthoughts.victoriapark.wa.gov.au//s/submission... Strongly Support Option 3 (Football only) Option 3 is strongly supported as it is the only option where the Raiders can continue to grow and thrive at Higgins Park. Option 3 allows reconfiguration of the football ovals to take the Raiders into the future (and no fenced, synthetic hockey turf), retention of all trees, protection of the public’s green open space, significantly improved clubrooms, and best of all, it allows us to bring all of our teams including all of our girls home to Higgins Park Strongly Oppose Option 1 (shared - hockey & football) The worst outcome for the club as it will force us to spread further throughout even more grounds, weakening our club’s key strength our sense of belonging and community. This is unfeasible, impractical, unreasonable and threatens our future viability. We already experience challenges in developing a sense of belonging & community for our girls teams who have to play and train at Curtin. This option will spread the problem further within the club. Weakening one club to suit another is unjust. Strongly Oppose Option 2 (hockey only - no football) Unacceptable, as it removes football from Higgins Park. The process by which Option 2 was included in the Masterplan was procedurally unfair and in conflict with Town staff recommendations and independent advice that there are no alternative locations for the club (November 2019). This option is out of scope as the hockey turfs are not on the Hillview Terrace side of Higgins Park. In the absence of information and advice from the Town, we have completed analysis into all public open space in Victoria Park and there are no other parks or reserves that can spatially provide the same or better facilities than we currently have at Higgins Park.
