20.01.2022 Graduate Prize 2020 Entrant PRIMARY PARKLAND by Rachael Hirth, Monash University This project set out to create a new school typology, tackling the emerging vertical condition in Australian schools. Both play and learning are viewed simultaneously. The result is a new learning environment that is designed for the diversity of differences in children. Types of learning were explored, and a spatial understanding of each was developed, influencing the evolution of the interior s...paces. While learning in a classroom traditionally takes place with furniture, play traditionally takes place on the floor. In this project, furniture and floor become one in a new terrain, designed for the practicalities of learning, with the freedom of play.
