24.01.2022 Recently we discussed the lip filler standards and how the standard amount of 1mL every 6 months can create overfilled lips. In this video, Dr. Gavin Chan discusses how to create better and more attractive looking lips without considering size as the only factor.
21.01.2022 We always believe that our Botox treatments will work 100% of the time. But is it possible to become to immune to Botox treatments? Dr. Gavin Chan discusses the causes of immunity to botulinum toxin treatment and talks to Dr. Jurgen Frevert who is the inventor of Xeomin, a purified botulinum toxin that reduces the risk of immunity to itself.
21.01.2022 Here's a picture of me in 1999 graduating from Monash medical school. Never would have thought that 21 years later I would be doing cosmetic medicine. I'm so glad I found it though - a very rewarding area of medicine. I get to make people look their best and see the positive impact of this on their lives. #drgavinchanvci
21.01.2022 I feel so grateful and blessed to have such an amazing team of nurses. They are some of the most caring individuals I know. If you have met our nurses in person I'm sure you'll agree. Dr Gavin Chan
18.01.2022 When you have tight, rough, uneven or flaky skin the first thing we reach for is a pot of moisturiser. Moisturisers are great at creating a barrier to lock moisture within your skin, but not all moisturisers are created equal. 17.01.2022 As we age our oestrogen levels begin to decrease, often commencing years before perimenopause. Oestrogen is responsible for maintaining our skin's moisture levels, barrier function, skin thickness, wound healing processes and our collagen development. 07.01.2022 Due to the extension of the Victorian lockdown we will now be closed until Friday 11th June. We will contact all patients who have upcoming appointments scheduled during the lockdown period. Our phone lines remain open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and we will continue to send your online skin care orders placed through our skin care website https://shop.vci.com.au/

07.01.2022 We are one of the first to use this technology for skin tightening in Australia. So far the results have been very promising, with additional skin tightening added to liposuction procedures. This creates better results in those who have had issues with skin laxity due to pregnancy or weight gain and loss.
06.01.2022 We have had a lot of questions from patients asking if we are still open during the lockdown period. The answer is 'yes'. In line with recommendations from the Victorian Government and the Department of Health and Human Services, we will be continuing to perform all our medical cosmetic treatments. This includes; anti-wrinkle injections, dermal filler, lasers, and medical skin treatments. Elective surgery in the private sector has also been given the green light to proceed, ...and we will continue performing surgeries in our operating theatres as usual. We do believe in the importance of your appearance and it's effect on your wellbeing. We choose to continue providing our services during this time as a result rather than close down. We also strongly believe in keeping our patients and staff safe during this time - and that's why you'll see everyone wearing a mask at our clinic. We have updated our hygeine and cleaning protocols also. A lot of the processes that have come about during the last lockdown will be continued now and into the future. This includes online consultations the first point of contact. That means less driving for you, and it doesn't delay the time it takes for you to obtain treatment either. I believe we should all come together in this time of crisis and look critically at our own behaviours and adapt appropriately. If we can all go about our usual lives with some modifications to reduce the risk of transmission, that in my mind is preferable to these lockdowns we have been put through. There is a silver lining to this difficult situation. It challenges us and makes us question what is important and what is not. Hopefully, we will all find something good from this time that we will carry on into the future. Regards Dr Gavin Chan
05.01.2022 In the light of the COVID Stage 4 restrictions in Victoria, Australia, we have decided to pause our in-clinic patient services for the next 6 weeks (until September 14, 2020). Our phone lines are still open should you need to book or change an appointment and our practitioners are still available to consult you online. Also, our online skincare store is open and fulfilling orders daily. We will be spending this time refining the processes and protocols at our clinic, producing more YouTube video content for your education and entertainment, and spending some more time with our families at home. We hope you make the most of this time also, and we can’t wait to see you when we re-open. Stay well and stay safe!
05.01.2022 These before and after pictures featured in an article by Candice Sutton in news.com.au today. They are twins pictured at age 40 in 1989 and more recently at age 71. Cosmetic procedures can become addictive and lead to distortion of self image. It is so important to have a practitioner to guide you through the treacherous path of getting work done.... You need too have someone who will say no sometimes and not just do whatever you want. Your practitioner needs to do what is in your best interests and not in the interests of their hip pockets.
04.01.2022 August 2020 marks the Victorian Cosmetic Institute's 15th year! Dr. Gavin Chan opened the Templestowe clinic as our first clinic and used to operate out of one room. Since then we have opened up 3 clinics, and have a fantastic team of doctors, nurses, skin therapists here to help you with your cosmetic concerns. We never expected our clinics to grow as quickly as they did (nor did we expect to be in lockdown for 6 weeks!) but thank you to the beautiful patients who we have built long-lasting relationships with and made this clinic into what it is today. Take care and stay safe out there everyone! We look forward to re-opening soon to see you in-person again. In the meantime, we are doing online video consultations to follow-up on our patients and to prepare for treatments on our return.
04.01.2022 Find out why the standard amount and frequency of lip filler is too much... The answer will help explain the cause for a lot of overfilled lips out there.
04.01.2022 What has happened to Britney spears over the years?
04.01.2022 We're back... (Almost!) We reopen and resume surgery and in-clinic treatments on the 28th September!! This includes anti-wrinkle injections, lasers, and filler performed by our doctors and nurses. Our skin therapists however will not recommence until the 26th October.... We are currently doing online consultations if you would like to enquire about a treatment now in preparation for our return.
