24.01.2022 Australian Rally Champions line up for the Victoria Cross. David and Kate Officer, the 1984 Australian Rally Champions, will be putting their Mitsubishii Galan...t to the test against some of Victoria's established rally teams, and some fast emerging club championship contenders this Saturday May 1 in the Mt. Disappontment forest. Their competition includes Nicholas Charrett, Kim Harper, Justin Lange, Peter Schey and Phil Thomas in Ford Escorts. Then there is a swag of Nissan/Datsuns driven by Roy Brock, Matt de Vaus, David Lawrance, Keith Lewis, Brian Semmens, Darryn Snooks and with Steuart Snooks dusting off the driving gloves after many years in the left side seat. If they don't overcome the champion pairing, then the more modern Subarus of Brett Mackieson, Shannon Seabrook and Rick Thorpe may have the edge, in traction at least. Commodores of the highly experienced Keith Cuttle and Murray Rogers will have more power, but more wheels spin to cope with too. Don't discount the Excels, the VW,Golf, the Honda and a pair of Toyotas from the challenge. They will have to pedal that Galant hard! What a line-up for the first night time rally this year in the Victorian Club Rally Series! If you want to be part of this and witness the talent on show, put your name forward to help out as an official. Even if you are only available for the afternoon and need to be back in Melbourne for dinner, your assistance is needed. Contact Joel Wald at [email protected] or 0412 352 252. 16.01.2022 Here's a statement from the organisers regarding the postponement of the Victoria Cross Rally. PRESS RELEASE 24 March 2020 VICTORIA CROSS RALLY POSTPONED Given the rate of infection spread and the increased restrictions on many aspects of our daily lives, it is now inconceivable that we will be able to conduct the Victoria Cross Rally on 2 May. The rally has therefore been postponed.... Whether it can be run this calendar year remains to be seen but we expect that scheduled forest road closures and priority for VRC events will mean it’s unlikely the Victoria Cross can be rescheduled for any date in 2020. The HRA encourages all members to treat the Covid-19 threat seriously. It would have been both impractical and irresponsible to further pursue holding the rally. That approach will extend to many other aspects of what was normal life and we trust you keep as safe as possible in the time ahead until the pandemic has run its course. 15.01.2022 The organisers of the Victoria Cross Rally would like to sincerely thank Kennards Hire for providing two incredible light towers to light up the spectator point and service park last Saturday night. These lights made both locations work really well and added a huge level of safety to the event. Thanks Kennards for your ongoing support of rallying in Australia.
