21.01.2022 2020 Championship winners photos. More general photos to come!

17.01.2022 Hello Gold Panners, With less than 2 weeks to go, final event organisation is well underway. Once again we will have one of our major sponsors, Lucky Strike/Gold & Relics (Darren and Leanne) at the event with their marquee of prospecting gear.... The Ballan First Scout Group will also be there to feed us once again. For the first time, we plan to satisfy those barista made coffee lovers with Simon and his Xpresso Coffee Van. Pre-registrations for the event will close this Sunday night (9th Feb). You can still register on the day with the registration desk open from approximately 8:30am. The last registrations will be taken at 11:00am unless there are unfilled heats. The first Stake Your Claim will be held at midday and a second one run at approximately 2:30pm for your chance to win a gold nugget or two. The PMAV branch challenge will close out the event for the day. We will know early next week what the weather has is store for us. We have been blessed with the weather over the years so here's hoping the trend continues. I have managed to source some gold panner figurines for category trophies. They will be accompanied by an assortment of prizes that have been funded or donated by a fantastic sponsor group! I look forward to seeing you there on the 15th of Feb. Please don't hesitate to contact me on [email protected] if you have any questions about the event. Regards Marcus President Victorian Gold Panning Association

17.01.2022 A reminder that the 2019 Australian Gold Panning Championships are on this coming weekend - Sat 16th of Feb. The trophies for the Mens and Womens Skilled winners will be a collectors item this year. They are no longer in production! The weather forecast is looking good with a beautiful day on the cards. Be sure to bring a hat and sun screen.... I have attached a photo of a number of gold nuggets that are up for grabs in Stake Your Claim and as category prizes. Stake Your Claim is an event that will be run twice during the day. People buy a claim and at a set time, all claim owners peg a piece of ground in a defined area. A set of grid coordinates are drawn out and if those coordinates land on your claim, you are the winner. There are a limited number of claims available so be sure to get in early. A number of pre-registrations have been received which is fantastic and appreciated. A large team of New Zealand's will be competing once again. As part of the teams competition, the Trans Tasman Cup will be contested. New Zealand won the Cup last year. We need to win in back! Its free entry for spectators so if you interested to just come along for a look then your welcome. The event will be held at the Recreation Reserve Rd, Blackwood, Victoria. Regards Marcus

11.01.2022 G'day All, Please find attached the results from this years Australian Gold Panning Championships. Congratulations to all the category place getters. It was a very successful day with a record number of panners competing. Once again the wireless timers used for recording panners times was invaluable with only seconds separating some of the finalists. The day would not run without the support of the many volunteers that help with setup, running and packup. The First Ballan ...Scout Group did an excellent job with the catering and managing the buckets of gravel throughout the day. Thanks must also go the sponsors: Fosterville Gold Mine Onsite Laboratory Services Minelab Core Prospecting Sepro Minerals Gold and Relics Lucky Strike Gold Prospecting PMAV Mincore Haycarb Holdings Miners Den Australia Coiltek Gold Centre TurboPan Congratulations to the New Zealand team "Gold Bugs" who retained the Trans Tasman trophy. Preparations are underway for next years competition. The date will be confirmed in the coming months. Cheers, Marcus

01.01.2022 Hi Panners, A note to those who might wish to camp in Blackwood during the Gold Panning Championships. No camping is allowed around the ground or immediate township.
