07.01.2022 Winter is often a time when we don't feel as thirsty. This often because it's hot or getting up when it's cold to go to the toilet is simply too hard. It is important to keep well hydrated all year round.

06.01.2022 It is my story but it is also the story of a lot of people, Yuot explains. I wanted to tell it so some of my fellow Aussies can appreciate what some of us So...uth Sudanese Australians have been through. I wanted to share the example of my family, who came here with the clothes on our backs but have managed to work hard. I think Australia is a fantastic place. We still have work to do, no one is perfect, but it has been amazing. That’s what I tell my fellow South Sudanese: be a good citizen, work hard and doors will open, for sure. But if you are looking for an excuse, you will always find one. Full story https://bit.ly/31yY0og

05.01.2022 The name Malinauskas is Lithuanian. My grandfather came from Lithuania in 1948 and my grandmother from Hungary at the same time. Both displaced people seeking ...comfort, safety and refuge in a great southern land called Australia. They are what we would now call refugees. Today, on World Refugee Day, Tung Ngo MLC, Joe Szakacs MP, Andrea Michaels MP and I reflect on the journey of the refugees in our lives.

04.01.2022 Hi! I’m Susan Yengi and I’m excited to be running in the upcoming Maribyrnong City Council elections to represent the suburbs of Maidstone, Maribyrnong and Foot...scray. I’m a proud Maidstone local and young mum to a cheeky two-year-old and a step mum to a very energetic eleven-year-old. I fled civil war as a child, arriving in Australia as a refugee in 1994 and have since built a positive and productive life working across the corporate, non-profit and education sectors. In my work, I strive to support our community’s most vulnerable people to successfully participate in our society, through employment, education and other community programs. My values are underpinned by the concept of ‘Ubuntu’, an African philosophy of community solidarity, kindness and mutual respect towards each other. Which is why advocating at a grassroots community level and giving back has always been a priority for me. I’m putting my hand up for election because I want to see a Maribyrnong City Council that will act on our community’s needs, views and ideas. I believe my values and experience are needed on council to ensure that our suburbs are best represented, that services and programs are focused on helping our local families and small business and ultimately make sure that no one gets left behind. Over the coming weeks you will hear more about my positive plans for our community, join me on my campaign so that together we can deliver a council that reflects our area’s diversity and that will put community, compassion and action first. 03.01.2022 People are feeling anxious. Anxious about their jobs. Anxious about their health. The most important thing to say right now is that it's understandable to be fe...eling anxious. The next most important thing to say is that help is available. No one is going through this alone. Assistance is just one call or click away.

03.01.2022 Are you a nurse, doctor or other health professional? Here are some ways to cope with the stress during COVID-19.

02.01.2022 Restrictions are being eased on aged care facilities. Residents will be able to leave aged care facilities and return without restriction, meaning that families... and friends can now take residents on outings in the community. Children of any age can now also visit residential aged care facilities, provided they have had their flu vaccine (babies under 6 months are exempt from the flu vaccination requirement). Residents can have up to two family members, friends or volunteers providing social support visit them each day, and aged care facilities can now approve additional visits where this is appropriate or necessary. Being able to provide end-of-life support to a loved one is an extremely valuable and important experience for residents, family, and friends. Loved ones are able to visit to provide this support and there are no restrictions on visitor numbers. If you are planning a visit, ensure you meet the criteria and be mindful of the restrictions to protect vulnerable people within our community.
