07.01.2022 People always ask me if using my service worth it. What do I gain if I get someone else to do it? What is the normal cost of a resume?... These are all questions that one should ask and look at before considering getting help in writing a resume. Investing in someone to help you put your best foot forward may be a worthwhile investment if you are not equipped in doing this yourself. When a person comes and works with me for their resume. I like to get to know them, their career goals, and professional experiences. I like to look at where they would like to be in 5 years and then from there start brainstorming ideas on how to create a resume that will best suit them. The initial meeting with me (whether it is face to face, over the internet, phone, or email) is the information gathering and strategy meeting so that we can discuss what you would like to achieve. From here I will then research everything that was discussed in the meeting and make a draft copy. In this phase, I may contact you a few times for clarification and/or further questions. Remember a resume is a valuable part of your professional branding and you will need to be able to speak about its contents in an interview. During our research and drafting phase, we consider everything about your resume in length, looking at keywords, word order, and most importantly if it hits the mark. We also consider non-resume pieces such as target companies, culture, and hiring practices. Once the final draft has been completed, we have a final meeting. At this point we go through the new resume in-depth and tweak this, so you are happy and more importantly comfortable with the structure and wording that has been used. As you can see, this process is very much a collaborative effort. What can be gained by working with someone on a resume? Firstly, they are an extra set of eyes that can look at things differently. People who write resumes are constantly researching the latest styles, trends, and employment criteria. So, having someone look at a resume may not be a bad thing. The cost of a resume will vary greatly. You will see resume services from $68 dollars up to $400 dollars. It is your personal preference on which one to use.
