20.01.2022 We have two Obvara firing workshops coming up with artist Sheryl Chant. Use the age old hand building skills of pinching and coiling to create your own paperclay 'Nest of Worries' to celebrate WA Mental Health Week 2020 and the release of your worries. The work will be honoured in a ceremonial Obvara firing at Victoria Park Centre for the Arts on Saturday 10 October. There is a children's workshop (ages 10-15) on Tuesday 29 September and an Adult's workshop (nearly sold out...!) on Monday 28 September. 17.01.2022 PERTH LAVERTON CLASSIC! Fundraising youth mentoring programs for the Laverton Community will run @ the Centre for the next few days. Thanks to Maree Laffan for organising and coordinating this event. The event was opened by our local Member for Parliament and WA Treasurer Hon. Ben Wyatt who announced the awards with a live ZOOM feed to Laverton. In attendance were Dr Carol Dowling a Badimaya/Yamatji woman with a Ph D in Social Sciences and members of the Veris Racing Pedal Mafia. After riding over 1,000km they made it to Laverton where they were greeted by Laverton children who escorted them into town. We are delighted to be hosting this important community initiative at the Centre. Come along and see the winning designs from students and a wonderful selection of artworks (for sale).
