24.01.2022 The Victorian Pride Lobby welcomes the start of Transgender Awareness Week which begins today. Transgender Awareness Week is a time to celebrate trans and gender diverse people as well as recognise and work against the struggles the trans community face in our society. We envision a world where every person, no matter their gender or the way they dress, feels safe, and has full and equal access to employment, social connection, and housing. A world where transphobia and ineq...uality are called out, challenged, and become a thing of the past. Throughout Trans Awareness Week, the Victorian Pride Lobby will be celebrating the excellence and vibrancy of the trans community and sharing resources for allies to take real action to support trans and gender diverse people. Our friends at Minus18 have prepared resources to celebrate Trans Awareness Week, which can be found here https://bit.ly/2IyhXFG. #TransAwarnessWeek

19.01.2022 We are ecstatic to announce that there are now 28 openly LGBTIQA+ councillors in 19 local councils across Victoria Well done to everyone who helped us Turn Local Government Rainbow this year
18.01.2022 Ballarat has the fifth-highest percentage of LGBTQI people of any local government area in Victoria. Yet one local government candidate wants to ban events funding going to LGBTQI events. A ban on events funding for groups, like the Ballarat Frolic Festival, would breach the Equal Opportunity Act. What this candidate is proposing is essentially illegal. This Australia First candidate will put Ballarat last. The Victorian Pride Lobby proudly stands by the LGBTIQA+ candidates and our allies who seek to support and uplift the Ballarat community, not divide it. 07.01.2022 Voters in nearly every council around the state of Victoria will be receiving ballot packs at the start of October. This means that next week will be critical in getting our #RainbowLocalGovernment candidate information in front of as many LGBTIQA+ Victorians and allies as we can. We know that getting more people elected who are committed to supporting LGBTIQA+ inclusivity can make a real difference in local communities across the state, and that many voters will not make up their minds ahead of time. Advertising on social media is an effective way to ensure that thousands of voters are able to make an informed choice next month. Every dollar you can spare will help us put the #RainbowLocalGovernment website in front of as many people as possible. Together, we can make a real difference: http://vicpridelobby.org/be-active/donate/

02.01.2022 The Victorian Pride Lobby welcomes the continued investment in LGBTIQ+ people, communities, and organisations in the State Budget released today. The support for LGBTIQ+ Victorians includes $1 million in funding for the LGBTIQ+ Community Grants Program as well as the LGBTIQ+ Leadership Program. The LGBTIQ+ Community Grants Program will support the recovery of LGBTIQ+ community groups that have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, said Lobby Co-Convenor, Nevena Spirovs...ka. We are delighted that 30% of grants have been earmarked for rural and regional areas, and look forward to working with the Government to support opportunities for collaboration between LGBTIQ+ organisations as part of the grants program. The Budget also includes $2 million for LGBTIQ+ organisations and businesses impacted by the pandemic. The new LGBTIQ+ Sector Economic Recovery Grants Program will ensure that LGBTIQ+ organisations and businesses can recover from the coronavirus pandemic and continue providing services and employment opportunities for our community, said Spirovska. We applaud the Government for supporting our LGBTIQ+ businesses and community venues that have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. They are our community’s town halls and squares, our places of congregation, and our cultural and sporting gathering grounds. These safe and affirming spaces and businesses are critical to the LGBTIQ+ community. This $3 million package is in addition to the ongoing support being provided for the build of the Victorian Pride Centre, a hub for LGBTIQ+ groups and organisations to share ideas and resources and to further their work in supporting equality, diversity and inclusion across the state. There is also funding to continue the LGBTIQ+ Practitioner Program to ensure culturally appropriate services are available for LGBTIQ+ victim-survivors and perpetrators of family violence. #Budget2020
