24.01.2022 Thanks to Claire for our lovely Meals on Wheels timber logos. Lovely
21.01.2022 Thank you to everyone in our community who supported our service on National Meals on Wheels Day by purchasing a meal or for donating a meal. We received enough donations for each of our clients to receive a complimentary meal. Our volunteers are vital to our service & we couldn't do any of this if it wasn't for them. We thank each and every one of you - current & past!
21.01.2022 Big shout out to Sandra and the team at Redlands only community bank. Thank you for removing our merchant fees for the last 3 months. Every little bit helps in the current situation. Thanks heaps Sandra!
20.01.2022 We are operating as normal folks. We are an essential service. We ask though that no visitors pop in as happens from time to time; please? So we have just the basic crew on duty Garry W President
19.01.2022 We are celebrating National Meals on Wheels Day next Friday 28th Aug. If you would like to order or donate a meal, please place your order by close of business Monday 24/08. Meals can be collected from the kitchen from 11:00, or delivered to a workplace.
18.01.2022 Can you help us please? One of these magnetic signs that we place on the vehicles of our volunteer's cars blew off yesterday. Somewhere in the area between the Adventist Villiage, Pelicans Nest, and our base. If you find it, could you let us know or return it to us please?
17.01.2022 Our volunteers deserve something quite special for their tremendous support over the last 3 months Jess made these for us to give to our volleys
16.01.2022 When I first joined Meals on Wheels There was the usual community look and feel We had a few meetings and said that we’ll Do our best where we can to provide a great deal... A few months in it was still surreal I didn’t grasp the deep appeal That brings so many to deliver meals Then struggles faced; were slowly revealed I tried to keep an even keel The more I saw what our clients conceal Physically, mentally; such hardship, ordeal Yet they’re on the outer; so genteel Along came COVID; we saw the newsreel Our deliverers determined with nerves of steel With a caring mix of resolve and zeal Continued giving; driving, their automobile Behind the scenes the turning ‘wheel’ A kitchen full of stainless steel Volunteers dishing up the hearty meals Vegies, gravy and some lovely veal Then packed and readied; our esky sealed Now to the cleaning of scraps and peel The dishes calling; next job revealed As drivers arrive to take meals in their ‘wheels’ Clients now behind doors, Hi Edith, hello Neil Hunched over they can’t come near for their meal We leave it out front, Edith says that she’ll Get to it when I’m gone, thank you Neil For many it’s their only meal Age and isolation an Achilles heel I now know our daily contact has lasting appeal Finally, I see; deep emotion is real What at first seemed a little piecemeal Is now deeply from our heart, you can’t repeal The significance and purpose of people like Neil And the significant the role of Meals, on Wheels More than just a meal! 14.01.2022 bp This week we celebrate National Meals on Wherls day BP Australia has provided BP vouchers to all Meals on Wheels organisations nationally. A significant gesture on their part. The vouchers are to be given to MoW volunteers as a thank you for their support . Our share is 6 vouchers and the committee will decide the lucky recipients ... Our sincere thanks to @BPinAustralia
13.01.2022 Hello everyone. There was a possibility of using the adjacent old Buick Club hall for the AGM. Unfortunately use of the hall will be subject to an expression of interest; a process which takes time so we need now to plan how to hold an AGM, to oblige the physical distancing requirement, to provide snack packs and a cuppa and hold the AGM too of course. So the date and time are confirmed. The place is not yet confirmed and the AGM may be held online. Garry W President
10.01.2022 We are grateful to have access to Council’s COVID grant. The process was simple and outcome quite quick and today; hey presto!! Now we can cook and hold hot meals at the sAme time Thank you all involved at Council.
07.01.2022 Celebrate 2021 and raise funds for Meals on Wheels at the same time! We have a token collector for all of January inside Grill'd. Thank you Grill'd Victoria Point for your support :-)
06.01.2022 Thank you Energex; for working through the night to restore power, after the fallen tree cut lines here in Victoria Point. We and our clients would have been deeply, negatively impacted had you waited for day break.
03.01.2022 Thank you Steve for making our new car look it's best!
