21.01.2022 Maxwell is one! Another smiling NICU graduate recently celebrated his first birthday and his mum and dad wanted to share their thanks with the teams that suppor...ted them through pregnancy and Max’s first 134 days: Max was born on the 25th of June, 8:45pm, at 25+3 weeks, weighing a tiny 826 grams. Max spent 134 days in hospital, he had a few issues due to his prematurity. Max came home on oxygen but is now doing fantastic, he is 8.1kg, super happy, a very active little boy and no oxygen as of last month. We are so thankful for the wonderful staff of the Royal Women's Hospital, both 5 South as I was on bed rest for 5 weeks and the NICU and Special Care units. The NICU and Special care team were absolutely amazing, their care of Max and the support we had was phenomenal. Each and every one of you will always have a special place in our hearts! Thank you for saving our sons life. So much love, The Murphy & Giddens Family xxx See more

09.01.2022 Radford, the man with a beard and a mission to help NICU dads as they navigate their way through the unknown world of newborn intensive care, is back for a seco...nd year! Radford is recruiting a team of dads to grow beards between now and Father's Day to raise funds which will go directly to supporting and mentoring fathers through their NICU journey. An e-book and podcast of past-NICU dads' experiences is just part of his support package, along with detail on what to expect in your first 24 hours, jargon-busters and more. We are so pleased to see Radford, whose twins Rupert and Maisie were born early at the Women's in 2013, supporting current and future NICU dads through their tough journeys. Read more about his efforts and dads - join his beard-growing gang! http://ow.ly/5AVT30ef3RC See more

03.01.2022 For a NICU nurse, no two days look the same, but all are rewarding. They go above and beyond to care for our fragile babies. What is something special that a NICU nurse did for you?

02.01.2022 Some emotional changes are normal in pregnancy and after birth. But antenatal depression and postnatal depression are more than pregnancy ups and downs or the baby blues. If you’re experiencing symptoms, seek professional help.
