18.01.2022 It has been a really bad start to the long weekend with one too many lives being lost on the roads over Easter, we see too many people taking risks on our roads just to get home, dont be the next one to add to the road toll. The Murchison SES will be set up from 8am 8pm today, Monday 22nd April, at the Truck rest area at Wahring south bound, so call in and have a chat with one of our great volunteers and enjoy a cuppa and something to eat This Easter long weekend, hundreds... of Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) volunteers will take their time out of their holidays, to make sure drivers and their families get to their destination safely. VICSES volunteers will run 27 Toll Driver Reviver sites across the state between Friday 19 and Monday 22 April. Please stop if you are tiered, too many lives have been lost already this year, dont be one of them, lets head towards Zero Fatigue is one of the big killers on Victorian roads and Toll Driver Reviver sites offer a place for motorists to take a break and enjoy a free coffee, tea or snack. Since Driver Reviver began more than 30 years ago, volunteers across Australia have served more than 23 million cups of Bushells tea and coffee and 27 million Arnotts biscuits to drivers! VICSES is the largest road rescue provider in Victoria, with 103 units road rescue certified. Last year VICSES volunteers responded to 1,218 road rescue incidents. Thats 1,218 too many. Make sure you take a break and have a cup of tea or coffee at one of the many Driver Reviver rest stops this Easter long weekend. We would prefer to see you at a driver reviver site than having to cut you from your car, nobody wants that. Think again. See more

13.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of National Road Safety Week. As Australias largest road rescue network, our volunteers see the first-hand effects of those impacted ...by vehicle incidents and road trauma. This week, take some time to think about how you could help to increase the safety of you and others on our roads. Lets bring the road toll towards zero.

06.01.2022 Get Flood Ready for VICSES find your Local Flood Guide The Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is preparing for floods this Spring, and asking every community member to take action now to Get Flood Ready by finding out about your flood risk and how to Get Ready. It comes as the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) recently released their Climate Outlook, which indicates that La Nia weather is likely to bring heavy Spring rains and a higher risk of floods in parts of Victoria,... including the North East. More info here: www.bom.gov.au/climate/outlooks/#/overview/video Preparedness is key knowing if you are in an area prone to flooding from rivers and creeks (Riverine Floods) is as easy as checking the local flood info at ses.vic.gov.au/get-ready/your-local-flood-information where youll find Local Flood Guides for most flood prone towns in the region. Many residents will already have a copy of their local guide, or the latest version is available from the SES website, including the brand new Euroa Local Flood Guide. If your area does not have a Local Flood Guide, you can get flood information from North East CMA (NECMA) www.necma.vic.gov.au or Goulburn Broken CMA (GBCMA) www.gbcma.vic.gov.au/ . Depending on your location, check out the new GBCMA Community Flood Intelligence Portal at https://my.floodreport.com.au/Gbcma/ which shows different flood depth maps, and even provides property-specific reports. This includes Shepparton, Mooroopna, Numurkah, Nagambie, Benalla, Tatura, Murchison, Merrigum, Euroa, Violet Town, Buxton, Taggerty, Marysville and the Acheron Valley. General information can also be found on the Flood Victoria website www.floodvictoria.vic.gov.au. Get familiar with your local flood risk: talk to neighbours if you are new to the area and find your Local Flood Guide. Taking the time now to understand what floods might be like, will help you plan and prepare before they arrive. Work out where the high ground or safer places are near you. There are simple steps to Get Flood Ready at home, on the farm and in business and now is the time to start: Find Your Local Flood Guide and how to Get Ready at www.ses.vic.gov.au/get-ready Never drive through floodwater. Just 15cm of flowing floodwater can float a small car. Thats the height of an average pen. Stay safe by never entering floodwater. The number one cause of death in a flood is people trying to drive through floodwater. Call 132 500 you require assistance from VICSES during storms and floods, and always call Triple Zero (000) in a life-threatening emergency.

06.01.2022 We are taking a break from face-to-face training and community engagement activities to make sure that our members are safe and healthy, so we can continue to respond to our community when required 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. We want to reassure our community, that as an essential service, VICSES will continue to be here to provide emergency assistance for storm, flood, road rescue and other emergencies. For emergency assistance from VICSES, call 132 500... 02.01.2022 Happy Fathers day from all of us at Murchison SES.

02.01.2022 VICSES were kept quit busy last night with the high winds that hit. The Murchison Unit attended a call to the Major Creek Reserve Mitchellstown for a tree down damage to vehicle, when we arrived on scene, we made an assessment of the area to find that no one had been injured and that there was only asset damage. Everyone was very lucky. Big thanks to everyone including the CFA attending, and the Shire for clearing Mitchellstown Road so that we could get to the camp ground. #weworkasone
