25.01.2022 Due to the nature of COVID-19, in recent times we’d taken a break from face-to-face skills maintenance and training to focus only on responding to emergencies. From this week, you might see us back out undertaking training in small groups to ensure we have the essential skills and capability required to respond to an emergency. Emergency services as a permitted industry are able to conduct critical training and exercising under the directions, as endorsed by the Victorian Ch...ief Health Officer. Our crews are following all the COVIDSafe principles, wearing masks and working hard to ensure we are there for our community.

Taking these simple steps now to make a plan of what to do, can help you stay safe and reduce damage, costs and stress when floods happen.

24.01.2022 Doing things a little differently at the moment. Had our first ever online information session tonight. Live streamed into lounge rooms. It was a challenge talking through face masks. Looking forward to meeting our perspective members face to face when restrictions lift.

18.01.2022 Happy Easter to you and you family from all the Wodonga volunteers and their families. Stay home and stay safe.

17.01.2022 Not the normal call out for VICSES. But today we received a call to rescue a black cat that had wedged itself between the roof of a carport and the overhang of the house eves. Poor little thing had been stuck their all day and could not get traction to get out. A very grateful and friendly little fellow who will be glad to be home tonight.

17.01.2022 With so much information overload on Coronavirus, take some time to look after yourself.

17.01.2022 The Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is preparing for floods this Spring, and asking every community member to take notice now and Get Flood Ready. The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) outlook includes potential for La Niña weather, bringing heavy Spring rains to South Eastern Australia and a higher risk of floods in the already wet North East and Goulburn Broken rainfall catchments. Adding extra risk, areas affected by last Summer’s bushfires respond differently as heavy rains can trigger dangerous landslides on burnt ground, and it’s more prone to flash flooding. These are already areas that VICSES is watching closely in the event of any rain

14.01.2022 Our crew is on a tree down job on Boyes Road maybe take an alternative road to work this morning Update - job done road clear

14.01.2022 Do your part in keeping our communities safe. Unless necessary, stay at home. For information on COVID-19, visit the Department of Health and Human Services website: www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus

14.01.2022 Wearing a mask is only effective to stop the spread of COVID-19 if it is worn properly. Avoid these common errors

13.01.2022 No flashing lights and sirens this year to remind you to donate. 2020 is all about doing things a little different. So donate online because the RCH still needs our support.

12.01.2022 Damaging winds are expected across Melbourne and parts of regional Victoria tomorrow. With easing restrictions across the state and warmer weather, we know man...y people will be visiting local parks. If you're outdoors and there's strong winds, avoid sitting or walking underneath trees. And if you must drive, remain vigilant and avoid leafy areas. Remember - the safest place to be in these conditions is indoors.

11.01.2022 Our supporters are kicking goals! The 4pm tally is $2,643,072 Your support helps kids like gorgeous Sarah, who began having seizures just shy of her first birth...day. The 22-month-old is being treated at The Royal Childrens Hospital where they are trialling different drugs to help control the seizures and doing tests to get to the bottom of her condition. 11.01.2022 VICSES Volunteer targeted by thieves while on duty! While VICSES Wodonga Unit volunteers responded to a road crash rescue in West Wodonga. A heartless thief broke into a volunteers vehicle at the Units headquarters and stole personal belongings, including a laptop. Wodonga Unit volunteers responded to assist at a truck accident at around 9pm on Tuesday night. While the volunteers were at the scene, an unknown person has entered the carpark at the Units Headquarters on Victor...ia Cross Parade on a pushbike. The person was captured on CCTV footage moving through the car park attempting to access several vehicles before leaving, only to return a short time later. This time they gained access to one of the vehicles and stole a bag containing essential equipment, including a Dell laptop that the volunteer requires for their employment. Acting Wodonga Unit Controller Lisa Wise said We are both shocked and saddened that volunteers providing life-saving emergency response to their community have been targeted. The VICSES volunteer whose property was stolen has responded to hundreds of rescues and played a key role in the recent fires, taking leave to spend a number of weeks in various support roles and this is the thanks they get. The Unit has just finished replacing $20,000 of vital rescue equipment that was stolen from the same location, only 14 months ago. Wodonga Unit and the VICSES volunteer affected are working with the Wodonga Police in the hopes of identifying the individual. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Wodonga Police on 02 6049 2600.

11.01.2022 Congratulations to the 4 members who completed their general rescue skills assessment in Wodonga this weekend. A challenging journey made all the more difficult by pandemic restrictions. Great work team! SES Tallangatta Unit

09.01.2022 Keep connected as a community by taking some simple steps.. Stay informed. Use information from reputable sources, for example DHHS https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/... Support others in your community. Look out for your neighbours and family members. Where possible, keep connected to your family, friends and work colleagues through phone, email and social media. Do not panic buy foods, medicines or other goods. Hoarding can harm vulnerable people and communities. See more

07.01.2022 Possible storms are predicted for parts of the state over the weekend. Before a storm hits, make sure that youre prepared. Park your vehicle under cover and away from trees, and make sure your gutters, downpipes and drains are cleared.

06.01.2022 We know a flood is the last thing Victoria need in 2020, but we are asking every community member to take notice now and Get Flood Ready while we have time to prepare

06.01.2022 Tomorrow marks Neighbour Day an annual celebration of community with the aim of fostering strong personal connections all year-round. During an emergency its... important to support each other and those who may be vulnerable in your neighbourhood. Want to know more? Visit: www.ses.vic.gov.au/media/campaigns/neighbour-day

05.01.2022 Never drive on a flooded road. It can take just 15 centimetres of water for a vehicle to be moved by water. Which is about the size of an average pen. A hot spot for Wodonga during heavy rainfall is where Middle creek crosses Whytes Road. Middle Creek can rise quite quickly and the unsuspecting driver can come unstuck. If you see water across road signs at this location turn around and choose a different route.

04.01.2022 Wodonga Unit has crews out and about clearing trees from roads in town. If you have to be out driving in this weather please be cautious and consider the risks. If you dont need to be out stay home until the weather front passes.

04.01.2022 The SES have received over 1,400 calls for assistance this evening due to strong winds. They are extremely busy and thank you for your patience. If you need help, please call 132 500. Their volunteers are working through the requests for assistance and will respond as quickly as possible.

04.01.2022 In line with enhanced social distancing measures implemented by the State and Federal Governments, VICSES has taken a position to suspend and/or postpone all face to face training. Our training team has been working hard to provide us with online interactive training. Last week the knot tying challenge produced some interesting looking knots. What will this week hold.......

04.01.2022 You can help make a difference for patients at the RCH, please donate to the Good Friday Appeal today

03.01.2022 Were still OPEN FOR BUSINESS for emergencies. SES Wodonga Unit emergency response activities will continue, and our focus will be to maintain operational response to our community. We do however ask the community that if you need us and you have tested positive or if you have had close contact with someone who has tested positive please let us know. We will still assist you just the same but it will give us the opportunity to take actions to protect ourselves so we can continue to provide a service to the community.

03.01.2022 Time to do a quick walk around the yard to secure loose items and get your car undercover. Remember to stay out of floodwaters.

02.01.2022 Whytes Road has 200 mm water across the Road at Middle Creek. It has risen 100mm since this morning. Consider an alternative route this afternoon.

02.01.2022 The theme for Neighbour Day 2020 is Social Connection. Wodonga SES wants to take the opportunity of Neighbour Day 2020 to remind everyone that social connections and support are even more important as the country grapples with extended periods of isolation, physical distancing measures and a re-think of how we operate our day-to-day lives. Given the challenges the world is currently facing regarding COVID19, getting together physically at this time is no longer safe and w...e encourage everyone to find other ways to connect and engage with their neighbours and communities. For example, this could be online/virtual connections or small acts of kindness such as leaving calling cards with a kind message and your phone number for those who are isolated, so that they can call you for a chat. We would love to hear what you are doing to keep connected.

02.01.2022 A moment of silence Tonight, Wednesday 29th of April at 5:40pm Wodonga SES will sound our truck siren four times. Each time the siren sounds, it is to honour the four Victorian police officers who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty at 5:40pm last Wednesday 22nd of April 2020 During this time we ask you to join us for a moment of reflection and remember the sacrifice made by ... Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor Senior Constable Kevin King Constable Josh Prestney Constable Glen Humphris Rest In Peace

01.01.2022 This year we granted funds to the Wodonga SES to assist with the purchase of a General Rescue Truck. This truck will make such a difference in our local community. Thank you Wodonga SES for the important work that you do when we need you the most. SES Wodonga Unit
