24.01.2022 Stay safe everyone, we are all in this together here in SA. As SA goes into lockdown, and if you are worried that a call for assistance will be overheard or interrupted, you might want to create a reason to leave the house, such as getting petrol, groceries or medication and call for assistance while you are out. Unless you are in medical quarantine because you are sick, you are allowed to leave your house for essential items, even under lockdown. If SA Police stop you, you ...can tell them what is happening to you. If you can't leave the house, you may want to wait until the person you are worried about is sleeping. You have the right to be safe. If you need help in an emergency, call 000. If it is not an emergency, but you are worried about your safety, you can call 13 444. You can also call the 1800 RESPECT 24 hours a day, on 1800 737 732. We are thinking of you and you are not alone.

20.01.2022 Male survivors of childhood sexual abuse often take around 20 years to talk about what happened. It's important to know that the abuse was not your fault. Discl...osure is often the key to recovery. SAMSN was founded by survivors, so we understand the unique struggles male CSA survivors face. Talk with a mate who can relate: call 1800472676 to start the converstion.

20.01.2022 "Feedback directly from the sector, services and advocacy groups continues to shape how we respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, helping to keep more South Australians safe." We are very proud to be involved in these important discussions around keeping victims/survivors safe at home during COVID. We have a great team of workers in our Staying Home Staying Safe program whose care and diligence is a big part of keeping women and their children safe from domestic and family violence.

19.01.2022 Buyers beware! While browsing for some #BlackFriday deals, please be aware of an increase in online shopping and classified scams. South Australians have lost o...ver half a million to these scams this year! So please be mindful of fake websites that look like genuine online stores offering products at very low prices and fake classified ads. Particularly likely to con are the scam ads for puppies and other pets! For more information on scams and cybercrime, please visit: https://www.police.sa.gov.au/your-safe/scams-and-cybercrime If you think you may have been a victim of an incident, report it immediately by visiting cyber.gov.au/report #scams #cybercrime #blackfridaydeals

15.01.2022 Victim Support Service has been delivering specialist, trauma informed support for victims of crime across SA for more than 40 years. We want to keep providing court support, but we need your help. For as little as $20, we can provide a full day of support to a victim of crime in SA, when they go to court. Our professionally-trained volunteers will go to court each day of a trial, sitting side by side with a victim, ensuring they are not alone. They receive training in victim... support and the criminal justice system, and are held in high regard by courts, police and legal professionals. Your donation will ensure this vital work is able to continue. If we reach our target of $2000, that will be 100 victims of crime supported for 2021, which means so very much to the people we help.

We are currently trying to keep this vital service running, despite the loss of our core Victims of Crime funding. No donation is too small, and we will put every cent to good use, walking with victims/ survivors on their justice journey. 07.01.2022 From 1 October 2020, South Australia’s Adult Safeguarding Unit (ASU) can respond to reports of abuse of adults living with a disability who are at risk of abuse. This is in addition to its support for South Australians aged 65 years and older, and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders aged 50 years and older. The ASU, located in Office for Ageing Well, provides a much needed place where anyone can report actual or suspected abuse or neglect of adults who, through age or disab...ility, may be at risk of abuse. The disability can be intellectual, psychiatric, cognitive, neurological, sensory or physical impairment, or a combination. The disability must be, or be likely to be, permanent. The disability must both reduce the person’s capacity for social interaction, communication, learning, mobility, decision-making or self-care, and necessitate continuing support services. People with a disability that is of an episodic nature are also covered. If you suspect you or someone you know is at risk of or is being abused, you can seek advice or make a report to the Adult Safeguarding Unit by calling the South Australian Abuse Prevention Phone Line on 1800 372 310, Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm. For further information, visit www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/adultsafeguardingunit.
