25.01.2022 The Victor Bowling Club is raising funds for the KI Mayoral Relief and Recovery Bushfire Fund. President Dale is overseeing this fund-raising and is more than happy to lighten your wallets. Marked boxes are in the Club to drop your donation and we thank all members and visitors for their help. It is a great cause and every little bit helps.
24.01.2022 Monday, November 16, 4pm MEDIA RELEASE: All bowls activity cease play Following the announcement from the State Government this afternoon, all lawn bowls activity will cease immediately in South Australia until further notice. This is part of the restriction which will see all competitive sport and training (indoor and outdoor) cancelled for the next two weeks as of midnight tonight.... Bowls SA is currently working with the State Government to help get a handle on the situation. We will provide more information to Bowls SA member associations, clubs, players and stakeholders as it comes to hand. Until that time, we urge all South Australians to follow all the guidelines and restrictions announced by the State Government this afternoon to help contain the situation. See more

20.01.2022 Good Morning, I have been asked to clarify the state of bowls at the club from December 1. I will type this slowly cos I know that we have some Crows Supporters in the club who are slow readers. Bowls is back on as of today. Night Owls, Super Triples, Thursday and Saturday pennant, social bowls, club competitions are all back on. The Ladies Xmas Triples on Friday will go ahead as will Friday Night Tea.... We already have 32 from Lifeline coming to tea and so we have room for 45 of our own members etc. Get in early. We will have to do some re-organisation with seating for the bigger events as we are only allowed 77 in the club at any one time. QR Codes We now have QR codes available at the doors and the bar for when you come into the club. We also have sign in sheets for the technology challenged. Every day that you come in, you must sign in, even if it is only for a few minutes. Once you have signed in on that day there is no need to sign in again if you pop down the street. The ‘new’ normal behaviour of sanitising hands, sanitising mats and jacks is still in operation. Brown Thursday We have quite a few entries for the Brown Thursday competition. Can you guess who was nominated to shovel poo for a couple of hours at the Zoo? Get your guess in by return email before Friday night. You can have more than one guess if you wish. All those members who pick the person nominated will go into a draw for a free drink. Cheers, Dale Speck See more

17.01.2022 Hello All One of the Club’s Major Sponsors, Northpoint Fleurieu, has forwarded this thru to us for your information. They are having a major release of this new vehicle on Tuesday March 17th with giveaways, sausage sizzle etc. Tu Clarke, the Principal at Northpoint, has assured me that he will look after our members interested in this or any other vehicle in their range.... Check it out and let them know that you are a member of this club. Nik

16.01.2022 Due to Covid restrictions it is now necessary to sign in when entering the Victor Harbor Bowling club premises. This can be done either with the QR code App downloaded from the My SA Gov site and available on entry at each of the doors or written entries available at the front door if you do not have the App.... Look forward to seeing you back playing bowls. Just a quick note with this, if you have already installed the MySA Gov app you will need to go back to either the apple or google app stores and search for the app and then do a simple update which will then give you the Covid safe box. Cheers
15.01.2022 Some serious sea wall work taking place by the Club. Large concrete blocks being placed strategically and then backfilled with large boulders and sand. After that the walkway will be widened and raised for the benefit of pedestrians. The Club appreciates the work by Council. Phos attached.
15.01.2022 Division 3 Ladies 2021 Champions. A great Job.
15.01.2022 Once again, the March Carnival was a huge success. With the maximum 46 teams in attendance from all around the state, the greens were full. Players were confronted with unusual cool blustery conditions but the bowling was of high standard. Overall winners were Brendon Hehir, Rob Kaplan, Frank Gibbons and Ken Weeks. Three other teams won all four games. They were the teams of Graeme Schubert (McLaren Vale), Ron Amato (Brighton), and Phil Hollow (PE). Apparently, the Ascot Park... boys required constabulary assistance at 3:45 am the night before, but still played well. Congratulations to Max Davies, as tournament director, and the 60 volunteer helpers from the club over the 2 days. At Night Owls, ‘Wednesday Knights’ continued their good form with 31+12 followed by the ‘Power’ on 30+14. The ‘Wine Not 1&2s’ were close for third and fourth. Thursday Women’s Pennant Grand Final. Victor ladies were up against perpetual rivals, Goolwa, and came up 7 shots short on the day. Lyn Thatcher’s rink had a good win and Shirley Koch was a few shots up, but Sue Wilkins rink found the opposition in excellent form and could not bridge the gap. There is always next year. Super Triples. Visitor Ron Phillips combined with Ian Fuller and Dale Speck to win the day on 57+17. Gary Hancock, John Koch and Wayne Lynn were second with Bob May, Dom Maselli and Nevil Ritchie finishing third. WOL were Ken Mableson, Wally Humphrys and Ian Price. There are 2 weeks to go in this competition. Saturday Pennant. All three top sides scored 10 points on a pleasant day for bowling. Div 1 Blue played Encounter Bay at home and had a 10 shot win. Len Basford and Peter O’Sullivan had good wins. Ernie Elf’s rink made up plenty of lost ground but missed out by 2 shots. This team sits at second on the ladder but will need to win next week. Div 1 White were at home to Willunga and recorded an encouraging 4 shot win courtesy of solid wins to Dale Speck and Dennis William. Lyn Thatcher’s rink had a day to forget. Div 2 were away to Milang, and came home with a 7 shot win with some very close contests. Stu Taylor was up by one, Gary Hancock down by one, but Ian Fuller came through with a 7 shot win and secured the match. Div 3 travelled to Aldinga Bay with Lofty Glatz’ rink sneaking over the line by 1 shot being the only highlight. Div 5 journeyed to Langhorne Creek but suffered losses in all three rinks. It was fairly competitive but only John Read’s rink got close. This team sits in third place on the ladder. A reminder that Presentation Night/Sponsor’s Night will be held on Saturday March 28th. Names on the sheet please. See more
