09.01.2022 ZOLEOlife Australia to the rescue This is a long post but it was a LONG day! We’ve barely had this thing a minute and it’s already proving it’s value! We told y...ou we’d road test the ZOLEO satellite communicator and, being located far from the usual tourist trails, a trip to Mount Augustus in WA was the perfect opportunity. Last week we were very thankful we could help out some new mates when they ran into mechanical dramas... literally in the middle of nowhere. We met Bryon, Shelley and the fam the day prior. The kids first coo-eed at one another along a walking trail and as fate would have it we later bumped into each other at Cattle Pool where our two families quickly connected over an afternoon of swimming, snacks, good banter and bad Dad jokes. The next morning, we came across these guys a couple of hours into the journey north where they were pulled up on the side of the road with some serious mechanical issues. Their Prado had started blowing smoke all of a sudden and running very sluggish. Two other vehicles who were travelling together had pulled up to assist but there was absolutely zero mobile reception. Willow initially loaned some extra tools but when the root cause couldn’t be determined he used our ZOLEO satellite communicator to reach out to a knowledgeable mechanic, our mate Joseph from Victor and Lee. Although he’s on the other side of the country Joseph was able to help trouble shoot a few options. Unfortunately the diagnosis was that towing would be necessary so we waved off the other good samaritans and started a series of messages to source a tow truck that could accommodate a 4WD, camper and family of six. Given there was no mobile coverage at all this would‘ve simply been impossible without the ZOLEO satellite communicator. A big thanks to Joseph and also a massive shout out to our mate Gilly back in Perth who managed to coordinate and source a towie. Much appreciated John from Tyrepro and Mechanical in Tom Price was then able to get in touch with us directly and organise the recovery. Four hours had passed between when we pulled up to help and when the tow truck was confirmed. Due to the remote location only one other vehicle came by in that time (headed in the opposite direction), despite it being the busy school holiday period. It really is a great example of how valuable a good communications system can be. With the tow truck enroute but still several hours away (750km round trip!) we were reluctant to leave but with assurance that the family had plenty of water, shade and supplies we swapped numbers and continued on. Fortunately, the family arrived safely in Tom Price albeit not till around midnight and only after the tow truck hit a cow on the way back! Thank goodness for bullbars. And, on a lighter the ZOLEO satellite communicator also allowed us to text Ally’s brother who got married the same day. We couldn’t have attended due to covid travel restrictions but were able to at least pass on our well wishes despite travelling remotely at the time. Congrats guys For more info check on the ZOLEO satellite communicator, check out the website here https://www.zoleo.com/en-au Beam Communications #zoleolifeaus #zoleo #satellitemessenger #nomobilecoveragenoworries #zoleolifeau

08.01.2022 WHAT A DAY ! The 2020 Gundy Moto X-Country saw nearly 200 competitors battle the elements Through all the dust we were stoked to see the grins on everyones ...faces On behalf of the club we want to give a massive thanks to EVERY SINGLE VOLUNTEER who helped pull this event off ! Our officials, flaggy’s, canteen helpers, checkpoint marshals, traffic controllers, scoring helpers, pit managers, sweep riders, race starters, the committee & club members and a big thanks to everyone who showed up to support our club on the day We had a few hiccups and changes last minute so scoring proved difficult, we are working on getting everyone’s overall scores posted on Facebook so please be patient. -As the saying goes ‘we’re not racing for sheep stations’ We’ve received a lot of constructive feedback and suggestions so with a few changes to make and kinks to work out we hope to run a better more successful event again next year !
