24.01.2022 This caricature may not inspire hope. However, the 11 year old student who drew it does... Over the last few weeks, I have attended some primary schools in my electorate to discuss leadership. I asked the students the following questions:... What challenges did you have this year? Students told me that they initially struggled adjusting to doing everything online and that they missed spending real time with their friends. I then asked them: What did you learn from this year? They told me they learnt how to learn online and not to take their friends for granted. They also told me they learnt how to better deal with change. This should give us hope. We know this has been a tough year for students - but they have learnt much more than 2+2=4. They have learnt an increasingly critical life skill: AGILITY. They are well schooled and skilled to lead us in a rapidly changing world ahead Thank you to the students at St Anthony's, Denistone East Primary School and Holy Spirit Primary School, for giving me a lesson on leadership Ps. Congratulations to all HSC students who have now finished all their exams. You will be remembered as the class of steel

21.01.2022 Every time someone says something kind about the work I do, I honestly bottle it up and give it to my parents in the form of gratitude This is my Mum, Josephine and my Dad, Frank Mum is an earth angel, Dad is an angel in heaven. ... Today is Mum’s 73rd birthday and tomorrow is my Dad’s birthday. Mum loves cooking and caring for her family. This sparks joy. However, Mum is not into technology. So I always have her and people like her in mind when it comes to inclusion. My Mum (and my Dad), sacrificed so much to give their children a better life. Their education opportunities were limited. But they worked hard to ensure that our opportunities were limitless. I know my parents are not alone. Their stories are the stories of many. God bless our parents.

20.01.2022 Mum is not only a great cook She has a green thumb She is growing these cherry tomatoes for me Tonight I’m having fried rice with pork fennel sausage - noice

19.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS! You may have heard that the NSW Government will be reigniting the hospitality and entertainment sectors with ‘Out & About’ vouchers. This is a sneak peak of what the vouchers might look like on your phone. ... Every adult resident in NSW will be eligible for four x $25 digital vouchers ($100 value in total). These vouchers are designed to support local businesses and jobs - assisting in our state’s economic recovery. We will run the initiative via the Service NSW app. It will have features such as find your local participating business. More details here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/out-about-vouchers

19.01.2022 I know it’s 10 days early But we all need a bit more hope and joy this year

16.01.2022 During this pandemic, Sydney Airport has taken the absolute lion share of inbound passengers to Australia. This afternoon, I had a behind-the-scenes look at how they are handling the pandemic. To say that the tourism, aviation and hospitality sectors have been decimated is an understatement. ... Before COVID-19, Sydney Airport would see 890 flights per day. Now we are at 110 flights per day. The ripple affect across hospitality and the broader economy is profound. That’s why we are doing our best to keep the economy open in a Covid safe way. The reoccurring theme has been both deep collaboration and digital smarts. To translate this for Star Trek fans, you have McCoy at the front and Spock at the back. A credit to NSW Health, Sydney Airport, Australian Border Force, Australian Federal Police and NSW Police Force. This is an extraordinary collaboration.

15.01.2022 As the years move on, it feels like life is becoming more and more complicated. A ‘Life Administrator’ would help us through important life events. Let me give you a sneak peek, of what your personalised dashboard could look like, if you wanted one. We are currently building this out.... A particularly difficult life event is planning for end of life and preparation of a will. Surprisingly, only 55 per cent of people over the age of 18 have a legally valid will, with most people believing it is only required for the elderly or ill. Next week, we will begin piloting a planning service which allows individuals to be better prepared and start the journey to plan ahead. For more information, see: www.nsw.gov.au//planning-end-of-/why-planning-is-important

15.01.2022 This is a CD. We used to play music on it. However, what is better is seeing artists perform live. ... The problem is - successive governments over the past 3 decades have introduced regulations that has shackled this important sector. Good news - on Tuesday at 6:35pm, the Liquor Amendment (24-hour Economy) Bill 2020 was passed. This is generational reform that will revive the grassroots music and arts scene. Live music and the arts enrich the soul of our beautiful Sydney Shout out to John Graham, Sophie Cotsis and Cate Faehrmann for their collaboration and important contributions to the bill. Ps. Midnight Oil, one of my favourite bands - started out their journey doing live music in Sydney pubs.

14.01.2022 Here is a modern irony. The day before the US election, millions of people placed a paper bet on the Melbourne Cup - which was then processed digitally within seconds of the race being run. Why can't we use the same techniques for our elections. This way you get the speed of digital that can be backed up with the assurance of paper. Digital also can help eliminate the risks of voter fraud, thereby increasing trust. Australia is not immune to the challenges of trust in go...vernment and public institutions. We must use digital technology to help face this problem head on. Unlike the beautifully straight Bradfield highway, the road ahead of is more akin to a winding alpine pass. There will be many changes and complex challenges. Today I had the privilege of delivering the keynote address at Bradfield 2020. If you would like a copy of my speech please send me a direct message.

13.01.2022 Sincere congratulations and thanks to Dr Kerry Chant for being awarded the NSW Public Servant of the Year. As a member of the Crisis Committee of Cabinet during this pandemic, I have had the opportunity to see first hand - Dr Chant’s knowledge, care, compassion and hard work. She truly is inspiring. Last week, over a cup of tea, I asked Dr Chant a number of questions concerning the NSW Health response to this pandemic on areas such as:... contact tracing waste water testing real time data You can watch the 6 minute interview on YouTube via this link: https://youtu.be/O2KRjFvpODY

12.01.2022 Today the Greater Sydney Commission released its final Master Plan for the Meadowbank Education and Employment Precinct. If you've been to the Grounds of Alexandria, imagine that on a far grander scale. This is really exciting. Our vision is coming alive. ... This is why I am genuinely grateful for the people of Ryde for giving me the opportunity to work with the community to shape our future. This will be an amazing place, I promise! You can access the Meadowbank Education and Employment Precinct Master Plan via this link: https://www.greater.sydney/project/meadowbank

11.01.2022 I am not on the front line welcoming people through the front door I am not in the call centres helping people with their problems I am not in the support office delivering new products and services ... But I am super grateful for the work you have done this year Just got home from the Service NSW Awards night tonight - congratulations to the winners - nominees and the entire team Whether it’s - bushfire assistance - digital licences - border passes - business grants - QR service check in ... just to name a few ... The speed and agility in which you have delivered this year - will be needed for next year - for we have a bold ambition to deliver even more innovative customer centric services for the great people of NSW

10.01.2022 "Like doubting Thomas, people can touch and see hard infrastructure, so even though it may cause disruption - they still believe. Digital infrastructure is very different - you can't see it. This is why trust is so critical." This is a snippet of my draft speech that I'll be giving this Friday, at Bradfield 2020. ... Bradfield 2020 is about the future of NSW - my contribution will focus on how we improve the customer experience through digital. Topics include: eHealth ePlanning eConstruction Cyber Security Service NSW for Business If you are interested, the event will be televised live on Sky News on Friday 13 November from 12pm. I will be presenting my keynote at 12.35pm.

03.01.2022 What’s the oldest profession in NSW? No, it’s not what you think. It’s actually surveyors. ... We are about to change hundreds of years of practice in the next few years by digitising survey plans. In human design all roads lead to genomics. However, in property, all roads lead to the cadastre. Digitising survey plans is like dropping a very large pebble in the middle of a pond. The ripple effect across the ecosystem is profound. We are determined to make NSW the smartest place to do business and the property sector is the largest economic driver in NSW. Today, I had the privilege of launching the roadmap for digitisation of survey plans. This is not just an opportunity to transform but an obligation to lead the way in digital.

02.01.2022 We can do better to help businesses navigate the road ahead especially during these challenging times. Could you imagine driving your car without a dashboard? You would be blind to critical information, such as, the actual speed of the car, petrol gauge, oil level and tyre pressure etc. ... Imagine if we created a Service NSW for Business app - a one stop shop where you could access: Vouchers and grants; Digital licence applications and renewals; The right support when you need it most. We are currently building this app for businesses in NSW. This will also help businesses with the roll-out of the Dine and Discover vouchers. Watch this space. Our vision is for NSW to be the easiest state for small business to start, run, adapt and prosper.

01.01.2022 This is the universal symbol for: How can I eat all of this Thanks for the schnitzels Mum
