25.01.2022 This year we are holding a Great Book Swap on Friday October 16th between 2.30-5.30pm, see you then! This enables us to raise funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and to participate in a fun book swap, where for a donation you can swap a book. Tarina (babies room) is running this event. She would love donations of brand-new books and/or near-new books in excellent condition. We are accepting age-appropriate books for our children. Board books for under 2’s would be a...ppreciated, and picture books aimed at 3-6 year old’s. Please bring these into the Centre before our event and Tarina will organise them. The Great Book Swap will enable our children and families to share in the love of reading. The event will raise much needed funds for the ilf which gift books to remote Australian communities. Please visit ilf.org.au for further information. Our Centre aims to raise a goal of $100. We are already at $130! Thank you to all those that have already donated, it is hugely appreciated. The link is https://go.greatbookswap.org.au//Victor-Harbor-Education-a if you can support us in monetary donations. All the proceeds of our event (October 16th) will also go towards this goal. ** We look forward to a wonderful Great Book Swap and welcome all families on the day, whether in care or not. Please come drop by and see Tarina out the very front of the Centre between 2.30pm-5.30pm. I might even bring a special book along myself, to read to you! I’d like to share some Key Points from an article: Reading and storytelling with babies and children, S, Nedovic, Royal Children’s Hospital Education Institute, 2018. - ‘’Reading and storytelling with your child promotes brain development and imagination, teaches your child about language and emotions, and strengthens your relationship. - You don’t always need to read books. Try looking at picture books, singing rhymes and songs, or telling stories from your culture. - Babies and young children often enjoy books, songs and stories with good rhyme, rhythm and repetition. - Anytime is a good time for a book or story! Try to share at least one book or story each day’’. go.greatbookswap.org.au go.greatbookswap.org.au See more

14.01.2022 Hi September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and we have committed to fundraise for Talk Like a Pirate Day to support regional families affected by childhood cancer through Childhood Cancer Support. Since 1975 Childhood Cancer Support has provided ongoing support for children undergoing treatment for cancer and their families, by providing a place to call home during treatment, emotional and financial support, transport and recreational therapies.... This amazing organisation needs our support more than ever with the uncertainties of COVID-19 and the difficulties this creates for these families in need. Can you help us? Your support would mean so much to our Centre. You can donate to our fundraising page by clicking this link: https://www.talklikeapirateday.com.au/users/paula-simpson Thank you so much for your support. Victor Harbor Childcare Team P.S.
