23.01.2022 It’s time to get creative to win some amazing prizes! Council’s Community Development Program T-shirt design competition is back, and we can’t wait to see what incredible designs participants come up with. The competition held earlier this year was a huge #CDPsuccess, and CDP Regional Manager Janelle Iszlaub said it was hoped that the 64 entries received in the first round would be topped. This competition was a brilliant success the first time around, and it showed off how ...talented some of our participants are when it comes to design, she said. Bulla’s Zachariah Hector and Kalkarindji’s Sherita Patterson won the first competition, and have seen their designs come to life by having them printed as T-shirts, so it’s an opportunity for participants to get creative and be in the running to win some great prizes. T-shirt templates can be picked up from local CDP offices in Timber Creek, Yarralin, Lajamanu and Kalkarindji, and the competition is open to participants in these communities and surrounds. The competition runs until the CDP Christmas closure on 21 December. #LearnDreamAspire indigenous.gov.au ABC Darwin The NT News Katherine Times NITV Northern Land Council Central Land Council

09.01.2022 Argh ‘Twas the Saturday before last when a group of intrepid anglers took to the high seas to take on the Roper Gulf Pirates in the annual Victoria Daly v Roper Gulf Regional Council Social Clubs Blue Water Classic. Conditions were perfect with a flat sea and cool breeze sent in from an early morning tropical storm. The competitors were up at the crack of dawn for a 6am set off out of Darwin Harbour. Both teams fished hard with the Roper Gulf Pirates taking an early lead, h...owever persistence paid off and with the VDRC Vipers team keeping well hydrated with cold drinks from the Esky they came out on top with the most fish caught including Golden Snapper and Jewfish! That night a presentation was held at a local diner and VDRC were officially crowned the winners. We would like to thank the Roper Gulf Pirates and all those who competed (and had fun!). We look forward to round 3 next year! Also a big thanks to the mob that travelled from community and a shout out to Christy for being the official team photographer!
