24.01.2022 Here is Greg’s blog article introducing my new decodable novel. This one is very cute and has a pug as a major character and is at our level 1 stage, which includes just single-syllable CCVC words. Download the free preview to hear the narrated ‘blurb’ and download the whole book to use with your students. For those of you who already own the education version, remember to refresh your app and the new books will arrive ‘as if by magic’. Also, if you have a moment, we’d really appreciate a few kind words on the APPSTORE if you love them! http://www.focusontap.com/decodable-text-meet-rex/

24.01.2022 This is my latest decodable book, Lit Sick. Sam is a teenage dyslexic learner who is quite good at maths but who hates literature class because he can’t read and it makes him feel stupid. Lit Sick is a story about how Sam begins to overcome his reading and spelling difficulties with the help of a specially-trained teacher who teaches him phonics. Please share far and wide.... https://www.facebook.com/2158458711048216/posts/2846664132227667/

21.01.2022 Here is a very simple writing frame for the dreaded PEEL paragraph. Whilst it lacks sophistication for older writers, this form might be useful to print out for each paragraph of upper primary/ lower secondary work that requires a PEEL structure. Use the form for planning and then write it up using speech to text on a tablet or computer. https://shalvey-h.schools.nsw.gov.au//l/PEEL_Paragraph.pdf

09.01.2022 If you need a great introduction to Shakespeare, here it is. Henry V is one of the best starting points as it’s full of battles, motivational speeches and bawdy humour- perfect for teens! https://www.facebook.com/patrickstewart/videos/1157449701259753/

07.01.2022 Everyone loves a free app, don’t they? Check out this r-controlled game. It has a lovely American accent so watch out for some of the vowel sounds and repeat the words for your student should they find it hard to access the sound. https://apps.apple.com//a/r-controlled-vowels/id1377441390

06.01.2022 Forgive my long time in not posting recently. I actually managed to lock myself out of the account for a while but am now back to share resources again.

06.01.2022 The reversal of b, d, p, q and 9 (and many others) is very common within our dyslexic community. This is my favourite app for practising correct orientation. https://apps.apple.com//letterreflex-overcomin/id485920074

06.01.2022 Amazing, amazing , amazing! Thank you to SpLD NSW for their amazing new website and information sheets. Teachers and parents alike should download these ASAP and share them far and wide. https://www.facebook.com/286815614672052/posts/3055060481180871/

05.01.2022 If you are looking for an online remediation for your student with dyslexia, I’d very much recommend Nessy. Try their free trial to see if you like it. https://www.nessy.com/us/ NB. I have no affiliation to this company. I just like their product!

02.01.2022 I have had a question about the TAP library of decodable books and thought I might share here a piece I wrote for the website a while back. It outlines the philosophy behind the Teen and Adult Phonic library apps. https://www.focusontap.com/introduction-tap-series-philoso/
