10.01.2022 Native fish species such as yellowbelly need to travel hundreds of km’s upstream to be able to breed, however that’s impossible when weirs block their passage. ...There are multiple weirs on the Lachlan River, therefore it’s very rare for fishos to catch yellowbelly in many parts of this river. We need the installation of fishways or fish ladders, such as this one at Bumbuggan Creek weir. I’ve asked Minister Adam Marshall to provide information regarding fish ladders on the Lachlan, but he’s not fully answered the question and it appears he has been very slow acting on delivering the necessary infrastructure. I’ll be pursuing this. See my question and the Minister’s response in the link: https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au//qanda-tracking-details.
