17.01.2022 TEACHERS! LIBRARIANS! PARENTS! I'm appalled at the continuing disappearance from schools of Libraries and Librarians as well the diminishing presence of art a...nd music from the primary (in particular) school curriculum. As Australian Children's Laureate 2016-2017 I am passionate about, and convinced of, the value of School Libraries and fully trained Librarians, and art and music as being an invaluable part of a child's life at school. Always but especially these days, when children are constantly and I believe overly assessed, art and music ideally offer them a means of self expression no matter where so called 'ranking' places them. If you know of a school where the Library has all but gone (or has been replaced by a 'learning hub') and / or art and music no longer are on the school curriculum would you please message me via Facebook. I am addressing a number of conferences in the coming months as well as contributing pieces about this issue to the press. See more

03.01.2022 UPDATE thanks for all your support but unfortunately the fat lady sang. Please read later post for more info. WE NEED EVERYONES HELP!!!!! The fat lady has not y...et sung and our little town needs some help!!!! IF we can find a teacher who is currently registered our school will not close. So we are asking you all to put your thinking caps on and to share the heck out of this request. SHARE SHARE SHARE we only have until the end of term to find someone so get it out there. As seen in all the comments made on the School closing post I know a lot of you believe as we do there must be a teacher out there who would fit into our little town. An awesome opportunity awaits. If you know of some one please PM this page The Quambatook Victoria FB site and we will pass the details on to the appropriate person. Please Please help our School stay open, while the major disturbance will be felt by the kids and parents it also will effect the community as a whole. Enticing people to live here especially if they have young children will be so much harder without the school operating. An awesome opportunity for keen teachers, who will have hero status for their tenure by saving our school. There is actually two positions available. An acting Principal's and a classroom teachers position.
