24.01.2022 Inspiration. Wonderful work being done in Elwood at the old Elsternwick golf course. Where else would you like to see rewilding in Victoria?

22.01.2022 The fantastic visitor plan for Bung Yarnda (Lake Tyers State Park) should be the model for managing access to our parks and reserves across the state. Developed in joint management by Gunnaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC) with Parks Victoria, the draft 'Camping and Access Strategy' allows great access for walking, driving, camping and boating, while increasing protection for the park’s remarkable natural features rainforests, rare woodlands, salt fla...ts and waters as well as the area’s important Aboriginal cultural sites. It is an ambitious but very good plan, and deserves the funding and support it needs to succeed. 19.01.2022 It's a world-famous spectacle even featured in David Attenborough’s Blue Planet documentary series and it happens right here on Victoria's salty doorstep. Every year between AprilJuly thousands of Australian Giant Spider Crabs, in the largest-known crab migration on the planet, march into the shallows of Port Phillip Bay to moult and seek safety in numbers. But in recent years this amazing natural phenomenon has started to be intensively targeted by intense crab harvest...ing. Call on the Victorian Fisheries Authority and Ministers with the power to intervene to protect the spider crabs by introducing a seasonal no-take period AprilJuly during the most vulnerable stage of their lifecycle>> www.vnpa.org.au/spidercrabs The image in the link shows just some of the many crab pots littering the seafloor with chicken carcasses used to bait the spider crabs. 19.01.2022 This week is our week. To shine a spotlight on just how unfit for purpose AGL's environmental assessment is for their gas import terminal proposed for our Westernport Bay. Working together with other environment and community groups, this is our chance to call our experts to talk to the panel on the impacts on marine ecology, chlorine toxicity, greenhouse gas emissions, safety hazards and oil spills. Tune in to the public hearings this week and show your support for Western...port. Tuesday will feature our marine ecology expert speaking to VNPA's biggest concerns for this project - marine ecology. Visit the link here and click on 'Crib Point IAC - Hearing Link' to join online from 10am and cheer us on. www.engage.vic.gov.au/crib-point-IAC

15.01.2022 The Australian Government's rush to weaken our national environment laws by handing power to the states and 'streamlining' development approvals is in the completely wrong direction as very obviously shown in the failure of the Victorian Government to protect our critically endangered grasslands in Melbourne's urban growth boundary: www.vnpa.org.au/grasslands-federal-minister

08.01.2022 We're sure Environment Minister Lily D'Ambrosio MP knows time in nature brings happiness & inspiration into our lives, while warding off depression, anxiety & stress. 02.01.2022 We welcome today's Victorian Government "Investment in Nature"budget which includes (much needed): $18 million investment in feral deer control $52 million for parks infrastructure upgrades in urban areas... $48 million for Landcare & other environmental programs $16 million for coast and some significant bushfire spending $92 million in carbon planting a significant investment which will create positive biodiversity spin-offs Many of these projects will both enhance & protect the environment, while increasing regional job opportunities. These funds are in addition to last week's announcement of $23 million to build a new visitors centre & establish a 50k hectare biodiversity sanctuary at Wilson's Prom.
