The series is an opportunity to hear from Traditional Owners from across Victoria, talking about why it is so important to protect cultural heritage, how it is managed, and what needs to occur at the government level to help Traditional Owners (and all Victorians) better care for Country. ...At this first event, we’ll hear from Barengi Gadjin Land Council. Barengi Gadjin Land Council (BGLC) represents Traditional Owners from the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk peoples, who were recognised in a 2005 Native Title Consent Determination, the first in south-eastern Australia. 19.01.2022 Mick Harding is a recently appointed member of the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Council. He is a member of the Yowong-Illam-Baluk and Nattarak Baluk clans of the Taungurung People. Mick has served the Community as an integral part of the Treaty Working Group, Board Member of the Taungurung Land and Waters Council, Koorie Heritage Trust and Indigenous Architecture ad Design Victoria. For over twenty years he has worked in Cultural Heritage as an Archaeological Site Officer, Cultural Officer and Inspector. 08.01.2022 The annual Indigenous Mapping Workshop teaches Indigenous-led organisations to use digital and geospatial tools to collect, host, visualise, share and publish maps to support their various community objectives. This year, the Workshop is moving online to deliver free training to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations. IMW Australia - On Demand’s goal is to build the capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to use mapping tool...s to map and monitor lands and tell stories of connection with the land and water. The free IMW Australia - On Demand workshop will launch on Tuesday 22 September 2020 - you’re invited to attend the online launch event to hear Marcia Langton and Terry Garwood discuss why data sovereignty and digital capability building is so important.
