16.01.2022 Thanks to new, expanded functionality, we're excited to welcome gallery, library and archive collections to Victorian Collections. Over the coming weeks, we'll be introducing the organisations whose collections are newly accessible on the VC website. The first new contributor we'd like to highlight is Ararat Gallery TAMA - the Textile Museum of Australia. TAMA is distinctive amongst Australia's public galleries in its longstanding commitment to textile and fibre art. The gallery's extensive collection of traditional Japanese packaging, first showcased in the 1979 exhibition ‘The Art of the Japanese Package’ is now accessible to the public via Victorian Collections. Head to Victorian Collections to revel in these unique expressions of Japanese aesthetics: https://victoriancollections.net.au/org/ararat-gallery-tama

15.01.2022 Here at Victorian Collections, we get really excited about digitisation projects. And whilst it may not be possible to get any hands-on digitisation done at the moment due to Covid-19 restrictions, we can always enjoy some digitisation content from our colleagues across the GLAM sector. We love this video from Burke Museum and Beechworth Historic Precinct showing how the Museum team digitised their 19th Century bird collection https://www.facebook.com/watch/

15.01.2022 We’ve been sharing positive news from the VC Community in the light of a pretty tough time across the state. Our second happy update comes from Arapiles Historical Society , who were successful recipients of funding through Horsham Rural City Council's Community Development Grant. Back in February, the Society were visited by our Digitisation Officer Geraldine as part of the Regional Digitisation Project. The grant funding has enabled the Society to purchase digitisation eq...uipment which will in the future allow them to continue along the digitisation journey they commenced with Geraldine, and benefit from her training in an ongoing way. Congratulations to the Society, and we look forward to seeing your records on Victorian Collections! And remember, you are always welcome to share positive news with the Victorian Collections team - we love hearing what the VC Community has been up to.

14.01.2022 We’re back with another of VC’s newest contributors. Head over to https://victoriancollections.net.au//castlemaine-art-galle to start browsing the collection.

Through training, they are upskilled in digitisation, cataloguing, and creating best practice collection storage.
