24.01.2022 Its always great to hear about horses weve sold on that have done well. Mr copperfield was purchased by our long time supporter Ellen Dwyer and started under saddle here at VDS. Ellens new job limited her ability to train the talented gelding by Trussardi, and a tough decision was made to sell him. He certainly showed loads of ability and talent as a breaker and its great to see he went on and is placed for a very exciting career. Congratulations of your success with him Rachel.

21.01.2022 Carlton Performance Horses competition at Boneo park proved a great success for Ant on the weekend. Its was exciting to be back in the competition ring after a year of building and establishing our new property in Bayles. Young horses Florianna VDS owned by Ant and long time friend Robyn Pettifer competed in the 6 yo class. Flossy stands at over 17.2 hh and still needs further developing at this level but showed some good work for mid 60s scores. Laurel View Tyson VDS ...owned by Annette van Breen competed in the 5 yo class for good qualifying scores and really good work from this youngster who also stands at over 17.2hh. At just his forth competition ever he was solid and willing and confident, testament to the work Ant and Annette have put in. Ant was very pleased with their attitude in this first Comp back and looks forward to a start at DWTS. Thanks Carlton Performance Horses for putting on a young horse comp. See more

20.01.2022 Homes and Acreage Summer Dressage Championships at Boneo Park Ant and Matt have just returned from a huge long weekend of competition at Boneo park. We were very pleased with our little team of horses and riders and Boneo park has become a great venue to chill out at in between tests with good food, wine and friends able to catch up at the cafe. 18.01.2022 We’re very pleased to present Ants lovely new gelding, Bloomfield Charmant. Thanks Janet Seccul for giving us the opportunity to take him on. ‘Charlie’ is a sensitive fellow with loads of character and expression. After just a couple of months here, Charlie has worked his way into Ants heart and they are forming a great partnership. Stay tuned over coming months to see what the future holds for Charlie and Ant.

17.01.2022 Thrilled to be at Boneo Park this weekend to witness the next stage of Pakaya Prince’s evolution from racehorse to para-dressage star with Emma Booth Para Eques...trian. This was his second ever dressage competition and he did not put a hoof wrong, behaving impeccably for Matthew Archibald. We can’t wait to see the heights this Off The Track thoroughbred will reach in his second career.

12.01.2022 This is Ava... shes a 4 yo we bred by Absolute and out of Ashleigh Dianna , who was by Der Lord. Ava had a bit of a rough start in life but now as a 4yo is having another prep of work to condition her body and bones to the life of a dressage horse. Well be leaving pics here of Ava periodically to show her development as a dressage horse and hopefully we see some nice changes to her body and shape over the coming years... yep, years. She is has a very kind personality and a good hindleg, somehow her neck is yet to pop but well see what happens in the coming months

Well miss the view out across the paddocks on the Westside but getting wet when it rained in an indoor wasnt part of the deal so weve put this wall in to protect everyone from the driving rain and winds. Placing 2nd in the 4b and 7th in the 4c and 5th in the Championship at the 2Construct Victorian youth Dressage Champs. There was a very competitive field today and Rhiannon’s hard work over the past months paid off. Well done!! 05.01.2022 Day 4 at the Hygain Dressage Festival and it was the medium horses turn to enter the arena. Ant rode ours and Lorraine Dwyer’s mare, Heatmont DeNina (De Niro x sirocco). Nero has been a challenge! She has loads of power, loads of insecurities but also sometimes feels like she’d be much happier boxing all the other horses out of the warmup ! But she is talented and thrilling to to ride and train and so we persist. This weekend we got the preparation right and she settled bea...utifully in the warmup and produced two very harmonious tests for two second place rides on 71 and 70 and Reserve champion Medium horse. Justine Greer’s beautifully trained gelding Yaramee Fonzie won the class with 75% and 77%, so we were in very good company and thrilled with her ride ability today. Thanks so much to Annette Van Breen for her calming supportive company, the Bendigo girls who gave up their Sunday lessons so that Matt could be at the DF to help get Ant and Nero in the right place and our support at home - Rhiannon and Tenaya - for holding the fort so that we can compete the horses. Thanks to the Festivals organisers and volunteers, judges and sponsors for putting this show together when it probably would have been easier not to. 04.01.2022 Today we lost the Best Pug ever. Billy Bisharna came into our lives on September 9, 2013 and today, we lost him. Everyone who has been to VDS over the past 7 years has been welcomed by this little fella. Never a nasty bone in his body and full of fun until his last day. Well miss you heaps Bill. We loved you as much as any blokes could. RIP mate with all the liquorice and maltesers you can eat.

04.01.2022 Many moons ago. A great happy shot of Ant winning Reserve champion at the Royal Melbourne show. Minstrel was a beautiful gelding Ant leased for a period from Sue Moore. Life was fun and uncomplicated back then. Three Lessons from Joe Stapleton a couple of weeks before the event for great result. Minstrel had a terrible tail and on Ants first attempt at putting a false tail in at Dandenong Rangers Show, he won the class. On exit to the class that day the judge called him over, tail in hand and said I think youve left something behind Ant made sure that never happened again

04.01.2022 First competition out for a very long time to Boneo Park on the weekend. Heathmont Da Nina in the medium and Laurel view Tyson VDS in the novice. Both horses produced some really good work for Ant and came home with some placing to boot! Lots of hard work has gone into Boneo park and it makes competing very easy indeed. Thanks to Annette Van Breen for your support with the competitions and the ride on Tyson. Next comp start of December.

03.01.2022 Ant has been working hard with Heathmont DeNina over lockdown. With Matts eyes on the ground weve been helping her with more balance and suppleness through her body in the basic work and solidifying the FEI. Nero is one powerful mare so getting the power balance right can be tricky. The luxury of taking our time over lockdown has been a blessing :)

02.01.2022 Day three at Victorian Dressage Festival at Werribee park. The novice horses were out in force with many beautiful horses and tests ridden. Annette Van Breens lovely Gelding Laurel View Tyson VDS was piloted through two awesome tests by Ant Bartlett finishing 4th in both and 3rd in the championship. We couldn’t be prouder of the great partnership that we have with Tyson and Annette in producing this big grey. Matt Archibald also competed the grey gelding ‘Get up and Galliano’... for Emma Booth. This was Gallianos first competition and he made us proud with two very consistent tests and a 6th snd 9th placing and 6th place in the championship. Tomorrow is the medium class with Heathmont Da Nina our final horse for the festival. Thanks to the organisers and volunteers for their efforts in getting this competition off the ground after a crazy year. See more
