24.01.2022 01 August 2015 - Celebrate all horses

24.01.2022 We had an early wake up call ahead of the summer fire season today. So now is the perfect time to work out your fire plan and what you are going to do with your horses. Check out the CFA recommendations here; plan now and stay safe. http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/horses-and-bushfires/

21.01.2022 If you feed your horses hay at any point through the year it would be well worth stocking up in advance this year and buying in bulk when hay is cut. It's going to be hard to come by later in the year so plan ahead and make sure you have feed for your horses later in the year.

21.01.2022 There are multiple fire warnings - including Emergency evacutations across Vic at the moment; please check the Vic Emergency Website http://www.emergency.vic.gov.au/map#now

21.01.2022 Some of the state's finest carts and carriages were on display, at The Victorian Show Driving Championships on Sunday.

15.01.2022 Confirmed Strangles Outbreak - Statement Equestrian Victoria can advise that there has been a confirmed Strangles outbreak at the property Tooradin Estate ope...rated by the Francis family in Tooradin Victoria. The Francis family is working very closely with the Veterinary Team at Melbourne University and the property is now in isolation with no horses coming or going from the property until the full veterinary clearance has been given for this to change. The vets are working on the property daily. We can also confirm that the Hillcrest Equestrian Centre has voluntarily put its property in isolation also, despite having no confirmed cases, as horses from Tooradin Estate have attended Hillcrest in recent times. The Lovett family also had horses entered for the Australian Show Jumping Championships here at Werribee this weekend and they have been scratched for precautionary reasons. Strangles has an incubation period of up to two weeks, so we ask the Equestrian community to be vigilant in the monitoring of their horses, and if there is any concern, please seek veterinary advice, especially if your horses have been to the Tooradin Estate in recent times. Boneo Park has also issued a statement re horses attending their property that may have been in attendance at Tooradin Estate, and they ask that they do not attend the venue. We are not aware of any other confirmed strangles outbreaks. We will confirm further updates as they come to hand. See more

15.01.2022 A group of riders is turning to technology to deter dangerous driving around horse riders on our roads. If you're caught behaving badly, they're promising to mail the proof to police.

14.01.2022 We're urging horse owners to plan ahead with the current dry conditions and summer ahead. There's no excuse to leave horses without enough food and water. We're... working with RSPCA Victoria to take this message out to horse owners. There's lots of good information available to help make good decisions to care well for your horses over the coming months. Horse owners and carers should seek appropriate help before animal welfare is an issue. http://bit.ly/1NMt9Ve

08.01.2022 A really lovely post from Unique Carriage Hire thanking the horse community for their support. :) They are also hoping that knowledgeable and sensible horse owners will write to Melbourne Council members and let them know that they support the Carriage Horses.
