25.01.2022 Bryce and his two boys Cael & Ayden jumped on board this morning for a crack at some reddies, started out really well boating around 15 in the first couple of hours then it just died off.. tried many other schools but they just didnt want to bite.. The boys were happy they had a great morning and took home a feed of redfin for dinner tonight with around 20 odd fish caught for the morning. Great having you all for the morning, look forward to the next trip. At this stage i hav...e Saturday morning session free And both sessions Monday free if anyone is keen to come down to the craters for a crack, Just inbox the page or you can call text Mick on 0402347515 Cheers See more

23.01.2022 Yesterday Trevor Holmes, young Dusty and myself hit Lake Purrumbete to see if we could pick up a trout and maybe a reddie or two for a feed. We hit the water by 6am, things started out a little slow for us but with plenty of moving about and persistence we got the results.. Trev picked up his first tiger trout, be it a smaller model he was pretty chuffed to get one, I picked up a nice buck brown of 6.5lb 65cm and we also managed a nice bag of reddies for dinner.. Dusty had th...e navigation sorted for us while we fished, with his full attention and eyes watching the surroundings at all times Turned out to be a top morning on the water with my old mate Trev and young Dusty. 22.01.2022 Fresh batch of D&A Lures arrived so i fitted them out with nothing but the best, Decoy split rings and trebles just to be safe They boys have a huge colour range for there minnow pattern lures and they also do Bent minnows in a range of colours. These bents have accounted for some quality fish for myself and clients on charters as recent as a week or two ago. The minnow pattern has caught me plenty of good fish also over the last year or two.... Highly recommend the lures to anyone and highly recommend you jump over to there page and give it a follow.. Inbox there page if your interested in making an order for some new lures. Cheers Link below https://www.facebook.com/DA-Lures-434915460255174/

22.01.2022 Really strong winds swept across the crater lakes today making it pretty difficult to get into some decent fishing waters. Both charters for today got cancelled due to inclement winds... not to worry I managed to sneak out for the last hour of light before dark this arvo after the winds slowed up and it was fishable conditions.. Anyway smart move on my behalf as i managed to pick up a 6.5lb 65cm brown on the cast.. fish was released to grow an fight another day.. D and A Lur...es bent minnow got the job job done for me once again.. I love using these bent minnows chasing browns in the shallows or along weed beds, and by the looks of it so do the fish. Highly recommend you jump over to the D and A Lures page, give them a like/share and get in touch with Andrew, he will get you sorted out. I still have both sessions on Monday available if anyone was interested in doing a charter, this will be the last day until im back down at the craters for about 2 weeks. If interested message the page or you can call/ text Mick on 0402347515 Cheers

21.01.2022 Change of pace this morning, decided to have a go at the Lake Purrumbete Chinooks for something different. Was slow going with bites few and far between but one of the bites resulted in this beaitiful specimen, now destined for the smoker Have a look at the quality of that flesh.. Can see why these fish are so popular, Look good, fight good and taste good..... I still have a few charters left for the rest of this week down at the Crater lakes if anyone is interested, contact the page or call/text Mick on 0402347515 Cheers

20.01.2022 Lake Purrumbete Gold.. I love watching these big browns swim back to the depths to grow even bigger and hopefully fight another day. Im all for people keeping a fish for a feed, there is nothing wrong with it at all, So long as you abide by the rules and regs on limits its perfectly fine for people to take a feed home to the family.. I myself dont mind a feed of reddies or a smoked trout or salmon now and then. But as much as i love a feed of fish I also love seeing these big... browns go back to grow even bigger, to keep the population of big browns in strong numbers and also to help continue creating the trophy Brown Trout fishery this lake has been known of for so long and hopefully continues to be known for in the decades to come, which im sure it will as our fisheries stockings continue to be bigger, better and stronger each year.. Its exciting times ahead for these Crater lakes i no that for sure.

19.01.2022 Well today blew its ass off down here again at the crater lakes.. again for the last hour of light the wind dropped off from 45km northerlies to a slight breeze from the south. So i took the chance to get out and make the most of the calm window of weather and again it paid off for me.. Had quite a few missed opportunities but managed to make the hooks stick on a couple also.. First up was this beautiful 64cm 6.6lb buck brown that took amy smelt pattern D&A lures bent minnow... once again.. This fish pulled like a train.. one of the best fights from a trout im yet to have.. fought well above his weight an had me thinking i had that magical number fish on the end of my line.. but not to be lol... Then just after dark i change it up and went to a black bent minnow again one from D & A lures and had a beautiful 67cm 6.9lb female brown trout swipe it off the surface about 3m from the boat, she gave a good account for herself also but not as good as the buck earlier.. She was released to fight another day and the buck unfortunately had to be kept for a feed as he was spent after the battle he gave me and couldnt be revived enough to be released.. So all in all another cracking session this arvo, I seen a window of opportunity and took it and it paid off for me, cant ask for much more then that.. Here is a link to D&A lures page for anyone wanting purchase some of these bent minnows. https://www.facebook.com/434915460255174/ I still have both sessions this coming Monday free if anyone is interested in doing a charter. You can inbox the page to enquire or makea charter booking or you can call/text Mick on 0402347515 Cheers

18.01.2022 With the announcement of restrictions being eased in Vic Regional areas in the coming days i think its fair to say Im Excited To be able to hook the boat up again finally and get back out on the water chasing some of the beautiful freshwater fish we have on offer in this state would be an understatement Who else is looking forward to hitting the water again?

17.01.2022 A little whisper coming out of Lake Purrumbete this morning is there was a Golden Tag caught brown trout this morning.. Congrats to the lucky angler that caught it, i bet he is feeling pretty happy about it right now knowing he is now 10k richer.. There has been plenty stocked into our lakes and river across the whole state.. Details of how ...many and where the fish have been places is below. Good luck to all out there on the hunt for one of these little tagged jackpots. See more

13.01.2022 Quick bit of info and a little feel good story for you all On this day September 1st 7yrs ago i went on my first fishing charter with the great man Trevor Holmes, we had spoken lots before this trip about a charter and also other fishing tactics and shared tips and tricks with each other regularly in regards to fishing at Wurdibuloc Res and other lakes.. But this would be the first day we met each other in person and what would become a life long friendship and someone i ca...n genuinely call one of if not my best mate. Now my point of this post.... I clearly remember at one point on this day during this charter me saying to Trev your so lucky doing this for a living, this is my dream job and would love to one day be doing it either along side him or even operating my own show, He said to me that day very clearly, if you want to do it just make it it happen, go get a boat, do the courses get the qualifications and come help me or go start your own show... 4yrs on of Trev asking me to do that, so that was exactly what i done and the rest is history.. Almost 3yrs now coming up I have been along side Trev with the charters and only late last year taking over the business as everyone now knows. I think its fair to say i wouldnt be where I am in life today if i had never met Trev or for his help, friendship, advice and believing in me along the way. Thanks Trev for everything you have helped me with along the way your the true meaning of a best mate to many many more to come, you have always had my back, no matter what and you know i have always got yours no matter what. I guess what im trying to say to you all is if you really want something bad enough or want to do something in life and you have the right people in around you and encouraging you, then you really can do or be anything you want if you put your mind to it. Great mates, good advice, encouragement and a clear path to your destination and its achievable.. Here is a few pics from along the journey. Cheers

09.01.2022 Rocklands is well on its way to becoming a natives fishery mecca for the west of the state. It really will be the future Eildon in the west side of the state. Well done to Victorian Fisheries Authorities for persisting with the stocking program you put in place and hard work you have put in to make this possible. Great future ahead for this lake, fishing and the aurrounding communities. Looking forward to spending some time up there doing charters and fishing with mates chasing some cod and yellas

06.01.2022 Hey guys, bit of an update for all thats wondering and those that have been messaging and calling in regards to charters. Also some news.. EXCITING NEWS So first off i have ordered my new boat a... Seajay 590 Velocity Sport side console 130hp Yamaha and i will have it on the water ready to go for charters around November sometime. Massive thanks to Davey Marine and Yamaha Outboard Motors for an awesome deal and jumping onboard with me as new sponsors.. more news to come about that later this year after delivery. So my current boat will go up for sale in the coming months if it does not sell before hand, i have a couple of really keen people interested so it may not go up for sale if one of them buys it between now and then.. Anyone thats interested in possibly buying it can inbox me and i can fill them in with the details they want to know. As for charters.. Yes Iam still able to do charters with masks, people from regional areas in stage 3 lockdown and with social distancing still in practice.. I have over the last couple of weeks been very busy with a few other things in life and have decided i will let the dust settle a little with the current Covid-19 situation for a few weeks and if all is looking ok i will begin to do charters again. At this stage i may look to start doing charters again to some degree in a 2-3 weeks if all is going well.. I have to lookout for not only my business, But also the safety of my family and friends along with the regions i will possibly be doing these charters at.. Lots to consider and at risk in the grand scheme of things and not just a matter of saying im allowed to still do charters so just go do them.. Its not always that simple.. not for me anyway.. For others yeah thats fine they come down for a day and go home but for me there is a lot more that has to be considered before i can make the decision to go do them charters.. What scrutiny my name and business will come under, what laws are in place and if they outweigh the risks/ worth of doing them.. Also the costs i will incure having to find and pay for accomodation if i can, or doing day trips driving to and from lakes back and forth each day.. As i said there is lots to consider on my side of things so at this stage im going to let the dust settle a little before i start planning any further charter trips to regional areas. Keep an eye out on the page in the coming weeks and i will keep you all notified when i will have any coming up trios available. For anyone interested in the boat sale feel free to inbox the page or you can call or text me for further details. Stay safe, Cheers Mick
