25.01.2022 The following has been taken from: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/summary-of-the-changes-to-restr From Sunday 11:59pm 18 October 2020 changes are being made to restrictions in both metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. Over the coming days more information about the changes to restrictions will be added to the Victoria's restriction level website: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/victorias-restriction-levels-co... Changes for metropolitan Melbourne Metropolitan Melbourne is in Second Step restrictions. From 11:59pm 18 October 2020 a number of restrictions are easing. The changes to restrictions include: More people who work outdoors will be able to return to work. Groups of up to five workers who work outside, including those who do the following types of work can return to on-site work: outdoor non-essential home maintenance and repairs, including painting. VTIO's comments. Groups of up to five workers who work outside . . . including those who do . . . outdoor non-essential home maintenance. That sounds like domestic non-critical safety tree work to me. Now is not the time to become complacent with COVID safe work practices. We need to continue to do everything we can to ensure we move toward our new normal.

22.01.2022 This year, Arboriculture Australia's membership helped them reach some impressive achievements: The release of more MIS, including MIS308 Tree Pruning and MIS313 Tree Health and Maintenance. New Zealand have partnered with them to endorse the MIS across the ditch.... The Bark is now digital and in full colour glory. their website has new resources. They assisted in the review of the new arboriculture qualifications. AND, they are delivering free MIS to arb students in Australia and New Zealand. VTIO acknowledge the great work of the all the past and present people at Arboriculture Australia. Our working relationship is constantly improving as we both work to assist people in the tree care industry.

12.01.2022 The changes to our ‘normal’ caused by COVID-19 has probably made this question more relevant for the Victorians than ever before. As the Federal Government says ‘Prioritising our mental wellbeing is an important part of staying healthy. The Government’s Head to Health website (https://headtohealth.gov.au/) is the best place to start if you feel like you might need some help coping with anxiety and worry about Coronavirus.’ If you have been thinking about calling someone, now's the time to do it.

11.01.2022 By now you’ve probably realised that there’s no climbing competition this year, so we thought we’d run a the VTIO logo in a video about your workplace challenge instead. For those of you from far away who have never been able to attend a VTIO event, and therefor do not have any of our merchandise, we are happy for you to use the logo of any tree industry group you’re part of. We’ll be posting details of how to submit your video soon, entries close 28 November and we’ll announce the winners early December. On behalf of the committee and the all the sponsors I would like to say well done for doing it tough over the last few months and we hope to see you soon. Look out for more soon from your VTIO soon.
