25.01.2022 Yesterday, on 7 July, the Victorian Government made an announcement regarding Metropolitan Melbourne and the Shire of Mitchell returning to Stage 3 Restrictions for the next six weeks. As a result of this Volleyball Victoria have made the decision to officially cancel the 2020 Volleyball Victoria State League. I would like to thank each of the clubs for their work and dedication in attempting to get a season up and running but unfortunately the opportunity to resume was taken... out of our hands. 10.01.2022 It is with considerable sadness that we join Monash University Volleyball Club in expressing our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Barry Maguire, a highly respected member of the volleyball community who passed away suddenly this week. On behalf of the Committee and reflecting on my experiences, Barry was a passionate, engaged, and productive contributor to the sport. Most recently assisting with a review of State League, providing his vast experience and infor...med direction. His preparedness to give of himself was boundless and he was a volunteer extremely generous with his time. Barry was a stalwart servant of the sport whose presence will be dearly missed. 07.01.2022 2020 STATE LEAGUE UPDATE - COVID-19 A State League Delegate's meeting was held on Tuesday 9 June. At this meeting Volleyball Victoria outlined possible modified formats of the 2020 State League season to all clubs. Each of these options are subject to the continual easing of Government Restrictions. As such, once there is a further Government announcement regarding the next step/s Volleyball Victoria will begin implementing our plans for a modified State League season. ... 02.01.2022 Martin Stillman Announced As Volleyball Victoria General Manager Following an extensive search, Volleyball Victoria today announced that Martin Stillman has bee...n appointed as new General Manager, commencing 9 May 2021. Martin has been professionally involved in the sport and recreation industry for over 33 years, and will bring to the role his considerable experience and knowledge. He has held leadership roles at the national, state and local levels, including at Little Athletics, Tennis Victoria, Australian Motor Sport Foundation and AFL Victoria. We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Stillman to lead Volleyball Victoria and continue to build on the organisation’s strengths, stated Volleyball Victoria Board President, Paul Freckleton. Martin is a highly experienced and well-respected member of the sports community and we look forward to him bringing his skills and experience to Volleyball Victoria. Martin Stillman said he is excited to be joining Volleyball Victoria, I am delighted to be appointed as the next General Manager of Volleyball Victoria and look forward to working collaboratively with the volleyball community in Victoria.
