10.01.2022 Today in our kinder room, one of the children had a special show and tell to share with all his friends. Tyson and his mum Sarah brought in some of their pet reptiles. We had some blue tongue lizards, dragon lizards, stumpy tail lizards and fresh water turtles. Sarah gave us a little talk about how old the reptiles were, their names and what they like to eat. Children got to ask some questions and then Tyson ever so gently took the repitles around the room for all the children to have a pat. Everyone took it in turn to feed some yummy grubs to the lizards. Thank you Sarah and Tyson for sharing your special friends with our kinder children.

Many of the children walking out with great big smiles, a stamp and sticker book. I would like to say thank you firstly to the school dentist for coming in and providing our centre with a great service, also the parents who came along with their children when it wasnt their day of care. Thank you to the educators who held the hands of our children as they went into the dentist and last but not least to our brave children who got their dental checks

08.01.2022 This week at Victoria street all the rooms from Nursery, Toddlers, Pre-kinder and Kinder room the children all have been participating in science experiments, each room have made a fun experiment to celebrate national science week. In the Nursery room we have the children making slime which the educators Shelly and Eseta have used different types of materials to experiment on to see how the texture of the slime feels. The children such as Archie. We had a great time getting t...o feel the texture. In the toddlers room the children experimented on making a rain cloud which the top of the cups was filled with shaving cream to give a cloud effect and the bottom was filled with water, the children added food colour on top of the clouds while adding the food colour it feels into the water creating rain-like effect. Once the children saw the food colour drop into the water they were excited to see what happens next, we even mixed the yellow and blue colour to see what will happen if two completely different colours were mixed, which we had a new rain drop colour green . Now lets see what the Pre-kinder and Kinder rooms have been making. Both the rooms combined and made a volcano. They used coca cola and mentos when the children added the Mentos into the coca cola bottle they waited to see what really can happen and as you can guess it erupted. The more menthols were added the more the children were curious what will happen next. Overall It was a fun week at Victoria Street ELC the children and educators all got to see what can be done using materials such as water, foam, glue and many more. Hope everybody has a great weekend See more

It was very informative, so many interersting questions from the children. But they all waited paitently to go see the police car and hear the siren. Thank you to the constables of Preston Police Station. We will definetly be organizing another visit soon for the other chiildren to enjoy.

01.01.2022 This week was book week, it has been running in Australia since 1945. The purpose of book week is to encourage children to enjoy new authors, books that inspire the younger generation to love reading. Throughout schools, childcares and libraries book week is celebrate with various activities such as dressing up in your favourite book character. At Victoria street ELC the children and educators all participated in getting dressed up. We had Thomas from the Pre-kinder room dres...sed up as his favourite pirate novel, we also had Grace dressed up as Thelma the unicorn, they didnt forget to bring their novels with them for group times. Our educators Maria. T dressed up throughout the week in all sort of characters on Monday she was dressed up as cat in the hat, on Tuesday she was Eeyore, Wednesday Alice in the wonderland and on Friday she was Little red riding hood. We also had Melek dressed up as a crocodile, well there was a debate between the children whether she looked like a dinosaur or a crocodile. During our group times the children read their books that they brought from home to their friends and educators. The toddler children made their own bookmarks using all kinds of glitters to give their bookmark a sparkly fun look. Some of the kinder children decided to read their books outside some sat on the lodges and some sat on the steps. While the older children read to each other the nursery children flicked through the books and point at images, so the educators in the room decided to do a puppet show about the novel old MacDonald, which the children love dancing to the song and imitating the animal sounds. We displayed photos in front of our office area which turned out amazing so that families and friends can see how Victoria street ELC celebrated book week. See more
