25.01.2022 Great encouragement for local councils here to get walk-friendly with VicHealth survey showing 1/3 Victorians plan to travel more by foot or bike than they did pre-coronavirus, when restrictions ease. TV https://www.facebook.com/VicHealth/posts/10157134590300989

25.01.2022 With the You Yangs in the distance, and the bay behind you, Werribee South is a great spot for photography or just a weekend wander. This walk is 5.6km return https://walkingmaps.com.au/walk/2541

24.01.2022 Its not quite the same but, here are 12 virtual walks from around the world. Some are quite beautiful (although none from Australia and a few ads to get through). Are there any youve been on, or ones youd love to do?

22.01.2022 Hard to believe right now but Melbournes CBD will be bustling again, with some estimates predicting just 1 in 5 city workers will continue working from home. Thats why this is such welcome news - more space for walkers - who represent nearly 90% of trips made within the city Little streets turned into shared zones means more room to spread out.

22.01.2022 Do you have a favourite spot on your regular walk? Someone told us they love this short stone wall on a path near the Merri Ck. We have to agree, it is quite attractive.

19.01.2022 Some councils are considering womens safety (and feelings of safety) when designing and upgrading public spaces such as streets and parks. City of Yarra is considering layered lighting for parks (not too bright ) and plans to install hi-tech motion sensors in trouble hot spots around inner suburban streets - to trigger LED lighting based on pedestrian activity. Do we need more of this? Tag your council!

09.01.2022 Lots of walking tips for better health and one is walking with a purpose with a "set destination, rather than strolling casually". "The biggest gain was in walking from home to work" we wish we could right now! We like this: "Walking in greener spaces is particularly powerful because it can bring an overall sense of wellness and connection with nature, even if you dont notice all the trees and grasses".... Whatever the reason or purpose it looks like a nice day for exploring the neighbourhood on foot!

07.01.2022 We love your walk reviews, this one from Andrea: Menzies creek to Emerald Lake following Puffing Billy tracks, 15km return. 'Just to be clear, you can’t walk on the tracks. We started towards Belgrave from Menzies Creek then discovered there’s no walking trail that way so we thought we’d have a wander around the streets in Menzies Creek and found the path alongside the tracks which goes into Emerald. Not as foresty as we were hoping for but still a lovely walk'
