That means they will have to go the whole holiday season without a pay check! Boycott Coles EVERY DAY, until Coles puts people before profits, in support of workers LOCKED OUT at Smeaton Grange.

10.01.2022 Today was the 5th day in the 16 days of activism against violence against women. It was also the last day of asbestos awareness month. We posted on facebook about both. We noticed that on the asbestos awareness post, nobody commented along the lines of "silica dust is also a toxic hazard in the workplace", or "people can die from trip hazards too". Nobody felt the need to minimise the pain of victims of asbestosis. Nobody felt offended that we were taking a moment to focus on... one particular hazard that disproportionately impacts male workers. If we had seen any, we would have called such comments out for being ridiculous nonsense, because asbestos is a deadly hazard affecting union members in Australian workplaces. If your response to hearing about the alarming rates of gendered violence is to feel like you are being targeted for your behaviour - to feel like the liberation of some union members is oppressive to you - then maybe you need to reflect on why that is. Because gendered violence is a deadly hazard affecting union members in Australian workplaces.

10.01.2022 It’s dangerous. It’s extreme. It’s the Morrison Government’s latest attack on working people. Add your name here to stand against Scott Morrison's attempt to cut our wages: https://utm.guru/ucXwt

09.01.2022 Thank Father Christmas this year's nearly over. The staff at Trades Hall are finishing up for the year today. We'll see you in a few weeks, renewed, reenergised and ready to stand along side you in a year we all hope looks nothing like the one we're about to leave behind. On behalf of all of us, have a great Christmas and safe New Year.

09.01.2022 The pandemic has laid bare what insecure work can do to the health of the economy, and of course, workers. Now is the time to tackle the issue of insecure work.

08.01.2022 Check out these legendary comrades who took part in a motorcade of over 100 cars around Melbourne and Brisbane Airports early this morning, calling on ISS Facility Services to adopt a fair, transparent process in their plans to cut more than 30 per cent of airport security officers Australia-wide. As Airports bounce back with increased flights and interstate border restrictions largely removed, hundreds of airport security officers facing the sack nationally are calling for f...air treatment. After successfully winning an eleventh-hour injunction that temporarily halts the sackings, aviation protection officers rallied by motorcade outside Brisbane and Melbourne Airports to demand ISS lives up to its obligations to long-standing workers. These protests follow ISS’s move to sack more than 370 ISS Aviation Protection Officers, who were told they would be given redundancy notices this week. However late on Sunday, in a significant ruling for the aviation protection officers, and potentially other workers facing the sack during Covid-19, the Federal Court placed an injunction on the redundancies. The injunction was granted because the judge found ISS which is trying to sack more than 30 per cent of its workforce had failed to properly consult with its workers before threatening to sack them. This ruling shows that ISS failed to undertake the necessary steps to ensure a fair redundancy process, United Workers Union property services spokesperson Damien Davie said today. These protests are about holding ISS to account for the fair treatment of workers who have in some cases given decades of service.

06.01.2022 The choices we make in the lead-up to Christmas can make a real difference for workers in Australia. At the end of a tough year, we’re doing everything we can to support local workers as we look forward to a much brighter 2021. If you're committed to buying locally made gifts and Christmas supplies this year, let everyone know about it. Sign the pledge at https://weareunion.typeform.com/to/q5puT8Ff

04.01.2022 Due to the current COVID restrictions, it is impossible to put on the much-loved, Building Unions' Picnics this year. However, building workers have worked hard all year, and you have earned the day off and it’s your entitlement to be paid. Given that there is no formal picnic, there won’t be any tickets or proof of attendance required. If any employer withholds pay or deducts your pay for Monday 7th December, contact your Union immediately.

03.01.2022 Heading out for some Christmas shopping this weekend? Face masks are still required inside shopping centres and large retail stores such as department stores, electronics stores, furniture stores, hardware stores or supermarkets. Additionally, workers at other stores may ask you to wear a mask on entry, and that's okay - because everyone has the right to feel safe at work. If workers ask, wear a mask.

03.01.2022 Everyone has unconscious biases. Unexamined, these create obstacles to women, people of colour, and LGBTIQ+ workers. Hiring and promoting diverse staff, including women and LGBTIQ+ people will help prevent unsafe work cultures from developing. #16DaysOfActivism #SafeRespectedEqual

01.01.2022 4000 of us are killed by asbestos-related diseases every year. Despite about one third of homes built between the 1940s and 1990 containing asbestos, workers continue to be put in unsafe working environments with inadequate PPE and without sufficient knowledge to avoid the unnecessary risk of exposure. Find out more about what you can do to avoid this deadly material as we close out Asbestos Awareness Month at https://asbestosawareness.com.au
