25.01.2022 The Coalition isn't trying to Save CFA. The division they incited & inflamed caused untold harm. The reform they oppose makes CFA's firefighters 100% volunteer. Volunteers secure in their autonomy can't be whipped into panic for votes. No wonder the Coalition hate it.

24.01.2022 Last night as part the EMV Emergency Services Foundation forum the participants were able to view a high angle rescue demonstration showcasing the interoperabil...ity of the three emergency services who provide this capability in Victoria. (VicPol search and rescue were unable to attend due to operational commitments). This demonstrates that whilst there are some subtle differences, all the agencies are interoperable. Participants were also able to view a range of specialist vehicles, including visits to VicPol, Ambulance air wing, MFB and VicPol Marine equipment. See more

24.01.2022 It was a lucky escape this morning, when we were responded to a vehicle crashing into the master bedroom of a Narre Warren home at around 7am. The incident resu...lted in extensive damage to the structure and vehicle which left the driver trapped. With the great work from all emergency services on scene, the driver was freed from the vehicle and is now being treated in hospital.

23.01.2022 G'day all, In this week's video I want to talk to you about 'Prerequisites for Officers.' We think brigade officers need to have two things: 1. Crew Leader Qual...ifications; and 2. Leadership competency. Tune in to hear more about this initiative and what it means for level 4 and 5 brigades. See more

22.01.2022 Stop for 5 minutes and reflect on this. Your well-being is the most important thing for you to take care of!!

21.01.2022 The Coalition are not trying to Save The CFA. They are trying to destroy it.

20.01.2022 A great initiative that will save lives down the track . What an excellent investment in community safety

15.01.2022 The Media have chosen to highlight MFB Firefighters leave entitlement from the 2018 EBA. They are claiming it is now 196 days. They choose to leave out some imp...ortant facts. To have 196 days off during the year a MFB Firefighter would need to: Take all their annual leave, Have a baby, Adopt a baby, Care for a seriously ill loved one, Enrol in the army reserve, Become a union delegate, Have a death in the family, Go on 10 days jury duty, Engage as a volunteer during a natural disaster, Be a victim of family violence, Commence study approved by the MFB And also identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. When you add it up like that it makes sense..

15.01.2022 A balanced and sensible take on the woes of Victoria's fire service

15.01.2022 Russia: firefighters play ice hockey. Each of them carries an insulated breathing apparatus

14.01.2022 G'day all. In this week's video I talk about our driver training pilot which is being run by ACO Glenn Jennings. We recognise that in developing competencies f...or our drivers, local conditions will play a big part in informing our pilot. This isn't a one-size fits all solution. If you'd like to find out more about driver training, let me know in the comments and I can ask ACO Jennings to give you a video brief. See more

14.01.2022 Tomorrow well officially open the new Carrum Downs Fire Station on the corner of Wedge Rd. This will be a very special day for me. Heres why. The Carrum Dow...ns Fire Brigade received funding for their new station way back in 2009. But there was one problem. They couldnt build their new station until they got the piece of land on the corner of Wedge Rd. They tried for years and years to get it. Back in 2014, before I was the Member for Carrum, I met now Brigade Captain, Stephen Rhodes. I promised him that if I became the Member for Carrum I would do everything I could to help him get the Wedge Rd land so the brigade could finally build their brand new station. I kept my promise. When I became the newly elected Member for Carrum in 2014, I made it one of my first priorities to help the Brigade get the Wedge Rd site. And in early 2016 they did. The rest, they say, is history. Thank you to the Carrum Downs Fire Brigade for your incredible volunteer service to our local Community. And congratulations on your wonderful new station. While the official opening tomorrow is not a public event there will be an open day later in the year where everyone can come along and check out this wonderful new station. 11.01.2022 Some pictures of some of our Volunteers in action over the last few weeks. This is just a few of our members, there are many more that contribute to the running... of the brigade both on fire calls and behind the scenes. We value everyone's contributions and could not do what we do with out them all.

09.01.2022 Please share Suicide rates are more than double the road toll! Young Australians are more likely to take their own life than die in motor vehicle accident...s. It's the leading cause of death for Australians between 15 and 44 years of age but it can be prevented. Every year: - 400,000 Australians experience suicidal thoughts - 65,000 Australians make a suicide attempt - 35,000 Australians are admitted to hospital for suicide-related injuries - 3,500 Australians die by suicide. In 2014, the highest age-specific suicide rate for males was in the 85+ age group. The next highest was in males in the 40-44 age group and then 50-54-year age group. In 2014, about 75% of people who died by suicide were males and 25% were females. No matter who suicide affects, it has a devastating impact on families, friends and the wider community. Most people don't really want to end their life, they just want the pain to stop. The causes of suicide are complex. Factors that may contribute to suicide include: - stressful life events - trauma - mental illness - physical illness - drug and alcohol abuse - poor living circumstances. There are also factors that make us more resilient, such as our connections to our family, friends and wider support network. Some people having suicidal thoughts might feel afraid to ask for help, as there is a 'stigma' around suicide. For crisis or suicide prevention support, please call Lifeline on 13 11 14

08.01.2022 It only seemed fitting to celebrate #InternationalWomensDay with nothing other than this fantastic photo of two of our many awesome female firefighters. Thank you!

05.01.2022 Our thoughts are with Probationary Constable Claudia Vaccaro and Constable Oliver Rietbergen of the NSW Police Force who are currently hospitalised as a result ...of their rescue of a man from a burning Camperdown home in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Thankfully they are both reported to be in a stable condition. Please join us in wishing a speedy recovery to these young heroes in blue. https://www.smh.com.au//police-officers-conscious-after-be

01.01.2022 Great effort by CFA Staff & Volunteers, SES & Ambulance crews to rescue an injured worker from a Trench in Warrnambool this morning. As usual, another great example of staff, volunteers, and all emergency services working together as one.

01.01.2022 Contrary to recent media deception, firefighters have no more access to time off than other workers. The roster system and annual leave arrangements are very di...fferent to other workplaces, but the number of hours worked in total each year works out very similar. In fact, firefighters work slightly more hours than workers following the National Employment Standard's 38-hour week with 4 weeks' annual leave. The new MFB EBA does not alter that. Recent media commentary is nothing more than defamatory nonsense. See more
