25.01.2022 AND did we mention there is a participation grade? If you're interested in road racing but you aren't sure where to start, this is it! Come along and try it out, you won't regret it

25.01.2022 Have you registered for Sunday's kermesse yet? It's a great day out whether you're a seasoned racer or just getting started. If you want to know more, check out the race report from the last one at https://www.vikingscycling.org.au//race-report-sdtc-kerme/... Guarantee yourself a morning of fun and register now! entryboss.cc/races/6456 P.s. the coffee van will return

24.01.2022 La Grande Boucle (aka a trip around France) kicks off again this weekend. As usual, and for just a little bit of fun to get through your day to day monotony, people can throw together a fantasy cycling team and compare results at the Pickle. Fresh off his Giro victory, Steve will be attempting to go back to back by picking the best placed riders again...but other DS' are in the wings with their own teams and own aspirations of glory.... I'm banking on either Rog or Pog taking the win and have put all my eggs in their baskets. If you want to participate on this "edge of the seat" excitement, then log into www.velogames.com, register a team, and be sure to join the Vikings mini league (code 326204620). May the best team win! Matt

24.01.2022 Mandatory registration for VCC bunch rides update In line with ACT Government Health advice, Vikings Cycling Club are introducing a new registration system. All riders must check in using the Check In CBR app at the start of all Vikings bunch rides, there will be QR codes available to scan at the ANU bridge. ... If you don't start bunch rides from the ANU bridge or you can't see a QR code, simply enter the code 843505 into the Check In CBR app. If you don't have the app or a mobile phone, ask a friend to check you in. We will be phasing out Eventbrite entirely as we transition to the new system. We will honour all registrations already made via Eventbrite. One perk of rider registration over the last year is that we have been able to record numbers at events which we can then use when asking for more support and cycling infrastructure. We do not hold the information that goes to the Check In CBR app and will be losing access to this information. Therefore, we ask riders who want to help support cycling in Canberra, to also register on Entryboss - the same system we use for racing. Feel free to ask any questions about the new system! We thank all riders for registering for bunches and helping to keep our cycling community safe.

01.01.2022 Some great results from Viking’s ACT riders on the weekend, when they competed in the Cycling Australia Virtual National Track Challenge. ACT riders punched above their weight as usual, and in particular our Vikings Junior HPS riders came away with some great results. In the individual events Lily Stratford secured 2nd place Nationally in the JW17 Individual Pursuit and also the JW17 Time Trial, while Jarrah Anderson recorded a scintillating personal best time in the Flying ...200m and currently holds 4th position in the JM19 competition. Angus Steadman performed exceptionally well in the JM15 Individual Pursuit, just missing out on 3rd fastest time by 0.6 sec, and was also the 5th fastest time in the JM15 Time Trial. Angus Steadman had more success in the teams events, sharing the spoils with fellow ACT U/15s riders Eddy Marcks and Hayden Stevens. Their ACT Team Sprint team recorded the fastest national time, and also the second fastest time in the Under 15s Men’s Team Pursuit ! The concept of the virtual challenge came about after the 2020 CA Track Nats were postponed due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Closed borders and travel restrictions meant that many states would not be able to attend a National Championship in its traditional format, and so an innovative solution from Cycling Australia saw the creation of the Virtual National Championship with all 8 states and territories competing in their own velodrome on the same weekend with times being adjusted to local conditions and compared nationally to determine the winners.
