25.01.2022 It has been a difficult year and whilst our usual Gingerbread event cannot take place, we would like to invite you to gather friends and family together in your home to celebrate this special time of year by building a Gingerbread House. Once your creation is complete, take a photograph, post it to the Millthorpe Village Church Facebook page and we can all vote for our favourites. To order email [email protected] indicating your preference for traditional, ch...ocolate or gluten free gingerbread. Once you have placed your order, you will receive direct deposit details and confirmation of your order after payment is made. Pick up will be on Saturday 5th December from Village Church Hall, Church Street, Millthorpe.
25.01.2022 Matthew 6:7-13 (NIV) And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. This, then, is how you should pray:... ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. We often do not know what to pray or how to pray, especially when times are tough. The Lord's Prayer is Jesus' own prayer of hope as well as a prayer of confidence. When the worries of life close in, these well known words serve as a compass to guide us in the truth and teach us to pray with confidence and expectation. ( A Journey from Worry To Confident Hope. N.T. Wright - YouVersion)
24.01.2022 Thought I'd do something for those who can't join us via Zoom. This is what I've sent by snail mail.

22.01.2022 Well done church on our first Zoom service. What did you think?
21.01.2022 Zoom church at 10am is up and happening. Lovely to see the church family faces.
21.01.2022 2 more SU NSW resources are now available on YouVersion! You can check out 'A Step of Faith', 'Stories of the Kingdom' and 'Jonah: Taking Part in God's Big Story' NOW!
21.01.2022 We're certainly looking forward to our Zoom! Church Good Friday service together, tomorrow at 10:30am. But Easter Sunday will be a little different. We want to encourage each individual or family to reflect upon and celebrate the significance of the resurrection of Jesus in their own special way. (Although we're sure chocolate will be involved at some point!) Whether bible readings, songs, talks or phone calls, we want you to make this time special, and make it count.... For those who would like some ideas & resources, here is a link to a program I've put together for our family (with some alternative options for those with younger children.) Please feel free to check it out, use, modify or ignore as you see fit. But whatever you do, on Sunday please take some time to reflect that Jesus was dead but is now alive and will one day return! Happy Easter! https://we.tl/t-knllAvSynA
20.01.2022 Why not join us this Sunday as we gather again face-to-face at our newly-consistent 4pm timeslot? This week we’re considering the question What actually is church? ... a very current question after months of ZOOM!
20.01.2022 Tragedy & Suffering - Why?? The Corona Virus has raised questions about God for many people around the world. So far 3.1 million people have been infected and 227, 000 people have died. Some people have asked, Isn’t that proof that there is no God? Their reasoning goes like this - An all-powerful God should be able to end suffering. An all-loving God would want to end suffering. This virus is proof that suffering exists. Therefore, an all-powerful, all-loving God DOES NOT E...Continue reading

16.01.2022 After a crazy, ZOOM filled 2020 and a few cold-start coughs and splutters at the end of the year, Village Church are finally back meeting face-to-face in 2021! And with a new era comes new changes from this Sunday, we'll be meeting at a consistent 4.00pm time-slot every week. No more "which Sunday is this?" questions! A new year can bring a new start so if you have questions about the eternal hope and perspective that the good news of Jesus brings to the lives of Christian believers, we'd love you to join us this Sunday
16.01.2022 Today, tune in and listen to this amazing band.
15.01.2022 Great job leading us at ZOOM church this morning Rebecca Choi. Great to see everyone on line.
14.01.2022 Why can a calamity bring forward both the best and worst in people? We all flip-flop from loving ourselves more than those around us, even when we might have the occasional glimmer of sacrificial service. I found these words (in slightly old-fashioned language!) helpful in remembering where true love really begins ... The nature of ‘sin’ is self-centredness the putting of self in the centre where God alone should be. We are all born doing this this is ‘original sin’. From this condition there may be partial deliverance through devotion to scientific truth or artistic beauty or patriotic loyalty. But such deliverance is only partial. In all my strivings to attain some ideal or perform some service, unless my heart and will are wholly captivated there will be some self-assertion, and probably a great deal. That is why the consciously virtues person is disagreeable. It is not virtue that can save the world or anyone in it but love. And love is not at our command. We cannot generate it from within ourselves. We can win it only by surrender to it (and) there will be no full surrender except to the perfect manifestation of perfect love that is to say, Jesus Christ came in the flesh. William Temple (1939) - Archbishop of Canterbury

07.01.2022 Merry Christmas, our Village Church family!
05.01.2022 While we are saddened to have to make this decision, with the current situation in Sydney still developing and the possibility of many still travelling to-or-from Sydney to regional areas for Christmas gatherings, we have decided to cancel our 6pm Christmas Eve service for the safety of both our locals & visitors. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Our prayer will be that you still use this time to reflect deeply on why Christmas remains a time for great joy ...despite the current hardships a spiritual joy fuelled by the knowledge that we have true peace with God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ the baby who was born around Christmas time all those years ago. May you experience this joy & peace anew this Christmas! Village Church, Millthorpe
04.01.2022 One week to go! We would love you to join us for our Christmas Eve service. Please send us a message if you plan to come, as we need to be mindful of current restrictions.

02.01.2022 Easter is close, and what a great time of year it is! Even in hard times, the truth of Jesus' resurrection brings light and life. At Village Church, we will be having ZOOM! Church on Good Friday at 10.30am for all who are available. Please contact us if you would like to join in. On Easter Sunday we will be encouraging you to prepare an Easter celebration with your own families. We will share some ideas of how this could work, but there are no rules! We simply want you to reflect, be thankful and celebrate this wonderful gift together.
02.01.2022 Don't forget while physical isolation may continue for a while, we can still connect emotionally and spiritually! Our ZOOM! Church meets every Sunday at 10.30am until restrictions lift. So if you'd like to join with us, please drop us a message or email.

01.01.2022 SU NSW is seeking a new state director who will lead and inspire staff and volunteers to work innovatively and creatively, as they share God’s Good News across ...NSW. Please join with us in prayer that God would guide this whole process, from the applications to the interviews. May the Holy Spirit's leading be clear to those involved with making this big decision. May we seek the Lord in prayer, and trust that the person He has chosen for this role would be made apparent. For more information about this role or a copy of the role statement, please contact the Chair of the Board, Robyn Gillespie via the link below. https://www.christianjobs.com.au//44706725-nsw-state-direc
