24.01.2022 Yesterday’s Italian Spring Lunch Workshop was a real treat! The weather was very accommodating- storm arrived not long after we finished! Our starter was ‘baked ricotta with spring vegetable bruschetta’ - pic by @chicken_hill_farm. Main dish was ‘ricotta gnocchi’. 24.01.2022 It’s hot one today! I think it’s scheduled for 38 degrees celsius! I was out in the kitchen garden at 6:30am this morning collecting what I could and watering! Oh my oh my! Beetroot with their leaves, zucchini flower and strawberries! More zucchini flowers to come as they open! It’s best to pick them when they’re open to make them easier to clean and stuff! 21.01.2022 This is what I love to do; sharing with others my love of cooking and baking in my little kitchen studio! Here Michael & I are rolling out pasta for our main dish. 16.01.2022 I didn’t manage to take many photos (only one other . I need a resident photographer !) at yesterday’s ‘Spring/Summer Garden & Lunch’ Workshop at The Village Cooks! I did however quickly snap this pic of ‘pesca e mandorla crostata’ (peach & almond tart) before serving! Peaches are now in season and I can report that they are juicy and sweet and delicious! What a delight it was to share my kitchen garden and cook lunch together with amazing folk! 06.01.2022 Running the Italian lunch workshops at my little cooking school is all about showcasing what’s in season & my inspiration from my Italian heritage! Here are some pics highlighting our primavera (spring) Italian pranzo (lunch) yesterday at The Village Cooks. We began with ‘bruschetta di vedura primavera’ (broad beans, peas, asparagus, mint with buffalo mozzarella bruschetta).... We moved onto ‘calcioni di barbabietola e prezzemolo’ (beetroot & parsley calcioni pasta with goats cheese & walnuts). We ended with ‘crostata di pesche e nettarine’ (peach & nectarine tart). They were the juiciest, sweetest fruits! 06.01.2022 A spot has become available for ‘A Spring/Summer Garden & Lunch Workshop’ at The Village Cooks for next Sunday, 8 November. This is combined garden and lunch Workshop! I will share with you my very basic knowledge of how to setup a kitchen garden and how to maintain it. We will focus on the spring/summer garden, and lightly touch on a plan for the autumn/winter garden. We will then harvest a few veggies from the kitchen garden to cook an Italian inspired pranzo (lunch) toge...ther. There will be home-style cooking and baking involved, with lots of chatting, laughing and learning along the way. We will then sit outside (alfresco style) together to enjoy the fruits of our labour sampling authentic Italian fare with a glass (or two) of vino.
