23.01.2022 A terrible shame that this has happened to yet another lessee

21.01.2022 This man has been making all the amazing ARC trailers that have been going out to Wildlife and Animal Rescue groups. I am a blessed recipient of one called Kicking Koala for Hunter Wildlife Rescue Bushfeeding. Worth your support and you could win this fantastic trailer! Worth $5500 #hunterwildliferescuebushfeeding #HunterWildlifeRescue

20.01.2022 Always move turtles in the direction they were heading. Safely away from the road. Check for injuries or shell damage. If injured take to a local vet or call your local wildlife rescue.

17.01.2022 Ok. So just to give you some clarity on a situation that arose with one of the local emus this morning. Many people were concerned by a team of people with an e...mu near the 60 zone sign on Wollombi Road near Middle Road. On further information two emus were trying to cross the road in that area earlier today and a member of my household successfully slowed down the traffic on her way to work and they were passed without incident. However subsequently apparently one emu has made it across the road and the second one was injured in a hit-and-run accident and found by a hunter wildlife rescue person Brian on the side of the road. He stopped and was very concerned for the animal and contacted other members of Hunter wildlife rescue and myself and several other carers attended. The decision was made to call the RSPCA to tranquilize the emu so that he could be assessed for potential injuries and veterinary care. RSPCA officers attended and successfully tranquilized the emu in a quiet area just off the road. No serious injuries were found and our other carers and the RSPCA returned to their duties and I stayed with the animal for quite some time until he was completely awake. He had some water and food and then I carefully walked him further into the forest so he could recover in peace and quiet. I have attached a couple of photos of him recovering from the tranquiliser and then walking with me into the forest. I completely understand community concern for the animals having had to attend a similar incident recently where an emu was struck by a car and subsequently ran through a fence exacerbating it's already serious injuries. RSPCA also assisted on this occasion but the animals injuries were horrific with a severed windpipe and other very serious injury. The decision was made to euthanize as the poor animal would not have survived capture, transport, anaesthesia and surgery eccetera. Emus are particularly sensitive and prone to capture myopathy fatality so great care has to be taken with them. The emu from this morning's incident is ok but I would ask for greater care to be taken on our roads. Please slow down and if you see any animal near the verge of a road eccercise great care as their behaviour being a wild animal is unpredictable. Impact is often inevitable unless you make the responsible choice to slow completely and get past the animals safely. If you unfortunately hit an animal or Witness an accident or see an injured or even dead animal on the road please contact in our area Hunter Wildlife Rescue or your local rescue authority. I have had to attend many incidents where a badly injured animal is left with horrific injuries in incredible pain on the side of a road. They are living sentient beings. Their families grieve. Orphaned babies cannot survive on their own. ALWAYS CHECK POUCHES. Babies can survive days in a dead mothers pouch. Always contact registered wildlife authorities as care is incredibly specialised. It is illegal for wildlife to be held by a Member of the Public more than 24 hours. Many animals come into care after having been " raised by a Member of the Public, dumped too early to survive having no transition to wild skills or incorrectly nourished and cared for. Training with a registered rescue group is the answer. Great care is taken by registered carers and rescuers to ensure the safety and well-being of all animals as was done this morning for this emu. He is now back in the forest again but is bound to be a little sore and sorry. Keep an eye out. Thank you for community concern. These emus have been supported in our bush feeding program for a long time and are popular with the local community as are other wildlife in the area. Please recognise they have no way of calculating the speed of something like a vehicle much faster and heavier than themselves. We welcome new members who wish to take a greater role in supporting wildlife. Many thanks to our registered carers Brian, Julie, Angie, Judith and Bev and our two RSPCA Officers who dropped everything to support the injured emu today . Also Amber who brought me cold water (after I gave mine to the emu) and company during my vigil. #HunterWildlifeRescue #hunterwildliferescuebushfeeding https://www.hunterwildlife.org.au/ See more

11.01.2022 Today we’re celebrating our beautiful country and unique species. Many of them face an uncertain future, but there is hope . We’re committed to the effective ...conservation of native Australian wildlife and their habitats, and thank everyone who supports us in this mission . Mala, an important ancestral figure for the Ngaliya Warlpiri and Luritja People, were once abundant across much of Central and Western Australia. Today, the species is extinct in the wild on mainland Australia. We’re building a population at our Newhaven Wildlife Sanctuary - part of a project to restore at least 10 nationally threatened / locally extinct mammals to Central Australia. J Clarke/AWC

10.01.2022 Motorists in NSW will no longer be warned when they approach a mobile speed camera on the road. The change to the speed camera warning signs was announced on Th...ursday and will be rolled out over the next 12 months. It means some warnings signs usually seen 250m and 50m ahead of mobile speed cameras will be scrapped. Some Motorist have told us that the signs are already starting to be removed

10.01.2022 How sweet is this? No, she didn't have twins, she has adopted a joey who has lost its mum.

09.01.2022 Meet Nanga (Formerly Bert) A name from an aboriginal word meaning "to dream". Because we dream she can walk again and be free. She was found a few weeks ago by ...Tabatha Wieczorek and her children laying on the ground and brought immediately into my care. She was terribly dehydrated and emaciated. All her bones stuck out. Suspected secondary poisoning where the victim eats animals or insects that have been poisoned or baited. Immediate intense rehydration. Then careful rehab. I bathe her twice a day as she can't stand and change her bedding twice a day. Initially very weak I have been feeding her six or more times a day with a mixture of minced heart, or mince, small carnivore mix, insectivore mix, fish oil, calcium, raw egg and multivitamins. She has Spark in her water. Each day I take her outside and at first was cradling her and getting her to use her wings....now she can grip my fingers, I support her legs and I run while she flaps like crazy. She is so trusting and actually hangs on tight as she can while she flaps. She knows I won't left her fall. Wing muscles can atrophy very quickly when not used. It also allows her to evacuate her bowels more naturally. I wear an apron lol. We also practice walking . At first she couldn't use her feet or legs at all. Now she can use her feet and legs to kick and is trying to get up. I put her feet on my fingers, support her chest with my forefingers and literally walk her around a step at a time. Me on my knees. . I catch insects and grubs or buy mealworms and walk her around so she can forage them. Today for the first time she balanced for a few seconds on her feet and legs! She likes her sunbathe each day and sitting on my lap for pats and cuddles. Many would have euthenised her but we want to give her a chance. She has gained wieght and has padding around her breastbone. The aim is always release. Born wild she deserves a free life. She is sweet and affectionate and like all magpies, incredibly smart . If any of the many people who offer help but have little time would like to assist her or a couple of birds in a similar predicament I would love some artificial grass for cages. It soft, doesn't catch their feet, is nicer to sit on, and is easily washed and dried. Also mealworms, crickets and also wild bird mix for a similarly affected corella who is now walking and climbing after initially being completely paralysed!. Look out for his story. #HunterWildlifeRescue #hunterwildliferescuebushfeeding See more

04.01.2022 So...sometime in the next day or two I receive this amazing gift. I was nominated through ARC to receive a fire trailer. It's called KICKING KOALA. I can use it... to service water stations in feeding stations it can help me water the 1 million + tree seeds and trees I have planted in the forest since the fires and enable me to put in more. I also now have a proper fire fighting unit which might help me protect my own place which was completely destroyed in the Owendale fire... or others. I am incredibly humbled and grateful and this little Kicking Koala will be a wonderful bonus for the entire bush feeding and bush rehabilitation project. Tears of joy https://www.facebook.com/firefightingtrailers #MichelleBowenPsychic #AriasRainbowRetreat #HunterWildlifeRescue #hunterwildlifebushfeeding See more
